Kasadya is back in Exsilium and finds her world a little different. Her half-breed fallen friends join her, and they are ordered to complete their apprentice training in order to obtain the right to be guardians. She must learn that her own fate cannot be denied and that others are set to follow. But most of all, she must learn that to trust is the greatest battle of all.

The tables are turned and Kasadya is put to the test. Will she be able to prevent her own death, or that of a friend? Or will her actions call forth the destruction of Earth and Exsilium?

Interview with author Karen Swart

What or who inspired you to become a writer?

My English teacher always said I should try but I just didn’t take it seriously. Then one day I just said what the hell let’s give it a go.

Who is your favourite Author & what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Katie Macalister. I love her Dragon Series, she can send you on a wild rollercoaster of emotions and I burst out laughing in public a few times because of her. Fabulous author!

What was the hardest part about writing your book?

Finding confidence and convincing yourself to continue.

What was your favourite chapter to write and why?

It would be in Hellhound Born the final chapter; really emotional didn’t think I could write like that.

What was the most surprising things you’ve learned in writing your book?

The entire thing. From editing yourself into a crazed state, to developing the cover. As a reader I never knew how much work goes into books, now as an author I give each book I read more respect than before.

Do you ever experience writer’s block?

Not yet, I actually have a TBW list of about 30 books already plotted out. I have a crazy imagination.

What is the last book you read?

Sapphire City by Amy Richie

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be?

Jim the demon dog from Katie Macalister, I love him.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?

Sunlight not artificial light, fresh air and music, I can’t write without it.

Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?

All imagination, my life isn’t that crazy, yet.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A vet, but alas science got boring and I started getting lightheaded with the sight of blood. Not good to pass out in the middle of an operation.

If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to see play the lead role as you?

Rebel Wilson- she will be perfect!

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?

If you love writing then write, never stop no matter what happens.

Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers and fans?

THANK YOU! Without you guys I would be in nothing. You guys rock!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Crazy, quirky and weird.

What’s one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you?

I can’t drive in a car in high places like mountains, I go bonkers 

What Scares you the most and why?

Physically spiders hate the damn things, mentally that something bad will happen to my children.

When was the last time you cried over a book?

Acheron had to read it in a week. Damn sad story.

Tell us about your first kiss?

OMG, I totally sucked! Did the sealed lip thing with my hubby (then boyfriend) and years later he confessed it was his worse kiss. PS: I was a tomboy before we met.
