Waiting On Wednesday #4

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
Sorry this is so late, Renee and I have been away at the Harlequin Summit here in Sydney (we'll be posting all about it very soon, so keep an eye out), and silly me forgot to set up the post. So here's the books we're waiting on this week.
Stacey's choice...
by Heather Hildenbrand
Release date: 12th March 2013

Everyone is exactly like me.
There is no one like me.
The rough fabric of my cotton nightgown chafes so I lie very still. They say my discomfort comes from being built like one accustomed to niceties. How is that fair when I myself have never experienced anything but copies of the real thing?
My entire life is an imitation.
I am an Imitation.
I’ve been here five years. Training. Preparing. Waiting.
And now I have a letter.
My assignment has begun.
I am a prisoner.
I am not Raven Rogen.
I am here to die.

I absolutely LOVE Heather's books and I am really looking forward to reading this one. Not long to wait now!!
Renee's choice...

As a "special" secret I would like to announce that I have a pure romance novel in the working titled "86 Special"

Michelle used to feel like she was behind in everything, especially school and relationships. Her great aunt from the old country says she is like a bland meal, "no salt or pepper". But in junior year, everything changes. Her father takes a position on the Town Council, a popular boy in school becomes interested in her, and most importantly, the Hekademos Learning Center, a private school for 'troubled' students, moves into her quiet neighborhood amidst the protests of the entire town.

After an embarrassing fall over the school wall, Michelle meets Elliot and her ordinary ‘bland’ life changes its course forever.

Elliot is no ordinary human. In fact, no one at the Hekademos Learning Center is. Beautiful and fierce, they have survived throughout the millennia by weaving in and out of human events. Through them, Michelle learns that history and myths from around the world are dotted with references to their kind. Michelle falls madly in love with the ever-striking and mysterious Elliot and, as much as he tries to fight it, he develops strong feelings for her as well. Although Elliot carries numerous painful memories from his many pasts, he disregards his own better judgment and the advice of his friends, and finds himself falling for Michelle‘s offbeat personality. Their feelings grow in intensity, but when History catches up with them, the difference between their life paths threatens to destroy any future that they might have had together.

Michelle learns that there are infinite shades of gray between black and white, and has to deal with the bundle of contradictory emotions called love. She has to trust her intuition in order to face the danger and uncertainty of being drawn into Elliot’s wondrous world. Ultimately, it is up to Michelle to make the split-second, life-altering decision that will either tear them apart forever, or give them another chance.
Of Blood And Pulse
Of Blood And Pulse picks up the story right where Pulse Of Heroes left off...

After a rocky start, Michelle and Elliot's relationship seems to be teetering on nothing but a few fraying strings, despite the great love that they both feel for one another.

Haunted and scarred by the events of the past year, they both suffer from traumatic consequences. To complicate things even further, someone who knows far too much about Elliot shows up unexpectedly, bringing revelations that even Elliot as a 4700 year-old immortal has a hard time grasping. This visitor’s mere presence adds yet another strain to the couple’s already fragile relationship.

However before Michelle and Elliot can remedy and mend their love, they must heal themselves, and that task will not be as easy, or as safe, as it seems. Join Michelle and Elliot on an epic life-and-death adventure that will take them to the four corners of the world in search of the key to their survival.
Here's a special treat an interview with 2 of the characters, Elliot & Rion (love them!), Enjoy!

Elliot De Costa and Rion interview from THE PULSE MYTHS SERIES
By: A Jacob Sweeny

Without further ado I, author A. Jacob Sweeny, will simply introduce you to our much beloved Hekademos delinquents Rion and Elliot from The Pulse Myths Series!!!

Rion:  Greetings fans.
Elliot:  Hi.
Rion: So, since we actually took time from our busy schedules I guess that we will get right down to business and answer a few questions. I know that Elliot never has time anymore.
Elliot: What busy schedule Rion? Like you have so little time (Elliot laughs) to do all those important things.
Rion: At least I don't spend my time tethered to some little woman.
Elliot: You should try it sometimes, you might like it. Give a little meaning to your life that has none at the moment.
Rion: Sounds like the slave that he is doesn't he? (Rion looks out at you-the fan club)
Elliot: That's because you never had it so good. Rion, you're like those scavenger birds, satisfied by little snacks. I like a whole meal with the cherry on top of my dessert. I prefer to wait for quality.
Rion: I don't have the patience. I'll give Elliot the credit on his project. Michelle although still cute as a bug, is very well trained now. As we have all read. You go my man!
Elliot: Education and training are two different things. I know what I like. I see no issue with that.
Rion: Well now they all know what you like, and what you're like.
Elliot: You're digressing.
Rion: Yes you are. How about we answer those questions they asked. The ones about if we were forced to go back in time where would we go. And the one about that wretched Hadeno.
Elliot: I hate it when they bring him up. I can't stand him.
Rion: Your brother, not mine.
Elliot: Half brother, and besides there is no resemblance.
Rion: I think Michelle would have disagreed when she was lying in his bed.
Elliot: He forced her.
Rion: Were you there?
Elliot: Anyway. I just want to clarify that I enjoy being alive now the most. I love Michelle to pieces. Also With the technology and easy travel things have become much easier. I still hate to fly.
Rion: Me too. A necessary evil.
Elliot: But if forced to go back in terms of times, not attachments to people, I would go back to when I built Cyrene. I have always investment time in everything I take charge of, but designing an entire city, on that rivaled Athens is my greatest achievement.
Rion: That place was magnificent. You're so artistic my friend, and a brilliant builder. I'll give him that. (to the fan club) It is a shame to see it in ruins now.
Elliot: Yes. (upset) I don't want to see it again. It hurts too much. I don't know why.
Rion: I wouldn't know what that feels like. But If I was forced to go back in time, I think I would go much further back. I would go back to when I ruled Clochis. It's when all the Argonauts showed up on the shores of my kingdom. It's when I met you Elliot, and Kahl, of course crazy Jason and Devin. Those guys have been my best of friend since that day.
Elliot: That's very moving Rion.
Rion: Don't get used to it. I think we're done here?
Elliot: Yeah.
Rion: If you guys want to read more about us. Just Read The Pulse Myths Series and The Pulse Historia. But do remember that some of that stuff is fiction. Elliot is not that lothario that the author makes him seem like. He's just playing it safe with Michelle. We know all the tricks. (Rion winks)
Elliot: Thanks for the life lesson Rion. you might learn a thing or too if you actually read.

LOL! I just love these guys! Thanks to Rion, Elliot & A. Jacob Sweeny for joining us today, it's been an absolute pleasure having you here.
This series is most definitely one to put on your tbr pile.
Follow A. Jacob Sweeny to keep upto date with her work.
Thanks for joining us & HAPPY READING!!!

Hidden Wings Blog Tour: Spotlight & Excerpt

Hey all!
Today on our blog we have the Hidden Wings Blog tour, hosted by Nevermore PR.
Now, this is a book you really need to add to your tbr pile's,
here's a little more info about the wonderful author and Hidden Wings.
Also, we have a special excerpt to share with you. :-)
Cameo Renae
Cameo Renae was born in San Francisco, CA, raised in Maui, Hawaii, and recently moved with her husband and children to Alaska.
She loved reading from as long as she can remember, and it was C.S. Lewis’ - Chronicles of Narnia – which sparked a fire in her soul which made her want to create her own wondrous, magical worlds, and awesome characters to go on adventures with.
Writing is her passion, and right now, her head is stuck in the YA genre and anything that has to do with the paranormal.
She self-published her debut novel, In My Dreams about a year ago, but it was picked up and re-published in December 2012 by Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing. Her newest novel, Hidden Wings (Book 1 in a series), has recently been published through Crushing Hearts and Black Butterfly Publishing on January 18, 2013.
One day she hopes to find her own magic wardrobe, and ride away on her magical unicorn... Until then... she’ll keep writing!

Hidden Wings
(Hidden Wings #1)
by Cameo Renae
Released: 18th January 2013
What happens when Darkness and Light collide?
Seventeen is a life changing age for Emma Wise.
As her family's sole survivor in a car crash, she is left with a broken arm, and a few scrapes and bruises. But these are only outward marks; inside, her heart is broken and the pieces scattered.
Whisked away to Alaska, to an aunt she’s never met, Emma starts over. Secrets unveil themselves and now…she doesn't even know who or what she is.
A centuries old prophecy places Emma in the heart of danger. Creatures of horrifying and evil proportions are after her, and it will take Emma, her aunt, and six, gorgeously, captivating Guardians to keep her safe. But, if she can survive until her eighteenth birthday... things will change.
Now, here's a little taste of Hidden Wings...
“Come on Emma! Hold it together!” I whispered to myself.
I couldn’t give up. I couldn’t go back. There was too much at stake. Peoples’ lives were at stake, and sadly entrusted in my feeble, un-transformed hands.
Another torch, ten yards away, lit the tunnel off to the left. Footsteps, scuffling along the dirt ground headed in my direction.
Holy crap… what do I do? What do I do?
Then Dominic’s words rang through my head. Go big, or go home. I really, really wanted to go home, but I didn’t think knocking my mud covered converse shoes together three times was magical enough to send me there. But heck, this all seemed like some twisted fairytale anyway, so I decided to try it. I closed my eyes and quickly clicked my heels together. One…Two…Three…I opened my eyes.
Crap! Whatever. It was worth a try. But, I wasn’t Dorothy, and instead of a witch and flying monkeys, I had a murderous Fallen Angel and Darkling. I’d take flying monkeys over the Darkling any day!
I gathered myself, took in a deep breath, and trudged towards the oncoming evil that lurked around the corner. As soon as I took the turn a Darkling halted in its tracks, his black eyes locked onto mine; its white, creepy face loomed back and forth, sniffing the air, trying to figure out what it had just run into.
“Take me to your leader,” I demanded, crossing my arms over.

(The Falconer #1)
by Elizabeth May
Release date: 19th September 2013
Lady Aileana Kameron can sing, paint prettily, and murder the fae as easily as dancing a waltz. But how far is she prepared to go for vengeance . . . ?

Edinburgh, Scotland, 1844

18-year-old Lady Aileana Kameron, the only daughter of the Marquess of Douglas, was destined to a life carefully planned around Edinburgh’s social events – right up until a faery kills her mother.

Now it’s the 1844 winter season. Between a seeming endless number of parties, Aileana slaughters faeries in secret. Armed with modified percussion pistols and explosives, every night she sheds her aristocratic facade and goes hunting. She’s determined to track down the faery who murdered her mother, and to destroy any who prey on humans in the city’s many dark alleyways.

But she never even considered that she might become attracted to one. To the magnetic Kiaran MacKay, the faery who trained her to kill his own kind. Nor is she at all prepared for the revelation he’s going to bring. Because Midwinter is approaching, and with it an eclipse that has the ability to unlock a Fae prison and begin the Wild Hunt.

A battle looms, and Aileana is going to have to decide how much she’s willing to lose – and just how far she’ll go to avenge her mother’s murder.

Looooove the cover! This book just sounds amazing AND it's been rated 5 stars by the amazing author Jana Oliver (LOVE HER!). So I'm hanging to get my hands on this one. ;-)

Book Review: Hooked by Liz Fichera

Title: Hooked
Author: Liz Fichera
Release Date: 1st February 2013
Published by: Harlequin Teen
Genre: Young Adult

Goodreads Description
When Native American Fredericka ‘Fred’ Oday is invited to become the only girl on the school’s golf team, she can’t say no. This is an opportunity to shine, win a scholarship and go to university, something no one in her family has done.

But Fred’s presence on the team isn’t exactly welcome — especially not to rich golden boy Ryan Berenger, whose best friend was kicked off the team to make a spot for Fred.

But there’s no denying that things are happening between the girl with the killer swing and the boy with the killer smile...

My Rating:
My Review:
Thank you to Harlequin Teen Australia for providing the book in exchange for an honest review.
Just like the name I was honestly HOOKED!
We meet Fred Oday, she doesn't have much money, her mother has a drinking problem, her father works so hard to support his family and she gets picked on because she's Native American. The only escape she has is golf, when she's playing nothing can bother her. Than she joins the "all boys" golf team. These boys are loaded (money) and they all have "I'm better than everyone" attitudes.
Fred doesn't let any of it get her down, she's there to play and hopefully get into a scholarship. She ends up getting partnered with Ryan Berenger, just another rich jerk, so she thought. Feelings start to grow between the two and the more they grew the more confused they became.
There wasn't much romance in this book and for me, that was ok. Sometimes in life things don't happen so easily and it shows just how hard some relationships can be. Fichera, really pulls out the emotional rollercoaster on this one. My heart went out to Fred for all the nasty things she went through, kids can be so cruel! At times, I was ready to jump in the book and teach a few people a lesson. I'm glad that she's a strong character, it helped dull that anger I felt lol. :)
I'm not much of a sports buff either but I really enjoyed the golf aspect, it was good to read about something the character felt so passionately about. I may just have to watch some golf with my husband lol.
If you're looking for something that'll have you glued to the pages and so immersed in the story than I recommend giving this book a go, it's a wonderful story about 2 teens from two different worlds, finding each other and overcoming all obstacles to be together.

Lucien Lance - a ruthless, relentless corporate raider. A man known for his single minded determination and his uncompromising thirst for money and power. A man so fearsome they had a name for him on Wall Street.

When young Angelica meets Lucien at a business function she quickly discovers just how dangerous and sexy Lucien is, as he seduces her into an erotic world of dominance and submission using a mysterious pleasure technique called the 'Devil's Touch'.

But Lucien's hunger for wealth and control comes with a cost... and Angelica must decide how much she is willing to risk to earn the chance of love.

The first brush of his tongue was broad and soft, setting a swathe of new nerves on edge. Then when she felt his mouth again, it was as a series of hardened rapid flickers around – but never quite on – the jutting stiffened nub at her center.
“Oh, God. I... I can’t take... I’m going to scream!” she hissed.
“Do it!” Lucien encouraged her. “Scream, Angelica. No one will hear you. Scream as loud as you can.”
And she opened her mouth wide and the cry in her throat was a release of all her humiliation, her wanting, and her ecstatic rapture that sounded as a long exultant roar in the most absolute and shattering moment of Angelica’s entire life.
Her eyes fluttered open slowly, and there was a dreamy, almost intoxicated glaze to her expression. Lucien was kneeling on the bed holding a glass tumbler of water. Angelica blinked up at him.
“You fainted,” he said, and handed her the water.
“I... I fainted?”
Lucien nodded. “Just for a moment. It’s nothing to worry about. The Devil’s Touch does that to every woman.”

Review- Bewitch by Felicity Heaton

Title- Bewitch
Author- Felicity Heaton
Genre- Paranomal Romance/ Erotica
Release Date- 15th of January 2013
Publisher- Dark Rose Publishing

Review copy provided by author.

Blurb- A vampire with a past stained with blood and a soul tainted with darkness, he is perfect in his self-control, never surrendering to his darkest desires. Now a beautiful witch in the shadowy fae underworld threatens to reawaken long denied hungers and tempts him with carnal pleasure.

Payne despises the incubus side of his mixed genes and refuses to give it free rein, but when the wickedly sexy Elissa offers him a possible way to help a friend, he finds it difficult to resist paying the price, even if it will be his undoing—one night of passion at her command.

Elissa is a witch down on her luck until Payne comes crashing into her life. The dangerously handsome male is the key to fulfilling a promise she made, but he is also forbidden, and surrendering to the wildfire passion he stirs within her means risking ruin and death.

When one incredible night of fulfilling their deepest fantasies leads to more than just a pathway to keeping a promise and saving a friend, will they be able to overcome the barriers that stand between them and forever?

Review- This series just keeps getting better and better. Felicity has delivered a flawless story full of emotion and intensity that leaves you yearning for more.

We are finally taken on the journey of Payne and what a journey it is. A heartbreaking and painful past comes to the surface while on the hunt for a way to help his friends break a curse. Elissa brings Payne to life by bringing his Incubus side alive through heated passion and an undeniable connection.  The heated scenes between Payne and Elissa are goosebump worthy and will leave you seriously antsy and flushed.

The erotic scenes aren't the only intense parts in the book. The depth that goes into the characters emotions is phenomenal. There is a rawness to it that really tapped into my humanity and pulled on my heart-strings. I felt a sense of pity for Payne (which I know he would hate) and a longing for him to feel like he deserved to be loved. That is why this book gets my 5 Sassy Books rating. The connection between a reader and the characters is so important and Felicity has succeeded in making it easy to establish that connection.

If you haven't read all of the books in this series that's fine. It is possible to read this as a stand-alone book, but I must warn you, once you read this you will want to go and read the rest.

So to purchase your copy of Bewitch, head on over to AMAZON. It is available in paperback and ebook.

To find out more about Felicity and the other books in her series you can head to her WEBSITE and FACEBOOK
