Blurb- Jacob was time out of sync, time more perfect than it had been. He was life the way it was supposed to be all those years ago. That's what all the Returned were.'

The lives of Harold and Lucille Hargrave had been both joyful and sorrowful in the decades since their only son, Jacob, died tragically at his eighth birthday party in 1966. In their old age they've settled comfortably into life without him, their wounds tempered through the grace of time...until one day, Jacob mysteriously appears on their doorstep - flesh and blood, their sweet, precocious child, still eight years old.

All over the world people's loved ones are returning from beyond. No one knows how or why this is happening, whether it's a miracle or a sign of the end. Not even Harold and Lucille can agree on whether the boy is real or a wondrous imitation, but one thing they know for sure: he's their son.

As chaos erupts around the globe, the newly reunited Hargrave family finds itself at the centre of a community on the brink of collapse, forced to navigate a mysterious new reality and a conflict that threatens to unravel the very meaning of what it is to be human.

4 Sassy Books!

Review- The Returned is a touching story that questions humanity in ways I have never read before. All around the world, loved ones are retuning from the grave in the exact form they departed. No one knows why or how. All anyone knows is that the world will never be the same.

The Returned is based mainly on Harold and Lucille and their "returned" son Jacob. They know their son died long ago but how can they turn away this mirror image of him? What if this is a second chance? Not only are their thoughts warring but they soon have to deal with the worlds reaction to what is happening. Pro and anti Returned against each other, then comes the "Bureau", sent by the government to control the situation.

With intense emotional scenes that will grip your heart and make you question humanity and your own morals, The Returned is one addictive read with a purpose. To make you open your eyes and realise that there is no second chances with life. Live to have no regrets or guilt and most importantly forgiveness and to never give up on humanity.

Congratulations to Jason Mott on his debut novel. He has one amazing future ahead of him.

  1. Great review! I'm glad you enjoyed this. I thought about reading it once I started watching the new series. I have no idea what's going on or what's going to happen and I'm afraid I won't enjoy the show as much if I go ahead and read the story. I can't decide.
