Review- The Billionaire's Temptress by Vivien Sparx

Title- The Billionaire's Temptress
Author- Vivien Sparx
Publication Date- 14th of September 2012

Blurb- Set in London over one long weekend, 'The Billionaire's Temptress' features a delightful heroine and her struggle to allure, arouse and attract the passions of a dark, sexy billionaire. But everything is not quite as it seems as Holly sets about seducing Nikolai.

Once Nikolai's passions are aroused, Holly soon learns that unleashing Nikolai's desires may be more than she can handle as the erotic action quickly begins to sizzle.

Review- Vivien Sparx has delighted and excited me once again with her new book The Billionaire's Temptress. Now I can't go into much detail otherwise it will give away the shock at the end. With hotter than hot intimate scenes and a great storyline to match The Billionaire's Temptress was enticing, exciting and oh so sensual from start to finish. The twist at the end had me emailing Vivien calling her a "cheeky bugger", because she sure got me a good one! So if you are looking for that raunchy little escape from reality this one is for you. The story will possess you, and may even give you some ideas of your own.

To purchase your copy of The Billionaire's Temptress (which I highly recommend) head on over to AMAZON

While you're at it why not friend Vivien on FACEBOOK so you can keep up to date with her other projects.

You will also find her on GOODREADS so be sure to add her books to your TBR pile.

Review- Reflected In You by Sylvia Day

Title- Reflected In You
Author- Sylvia Day
Genre- Romance/ Adult Fiction
eBook Release Date- 2nd of October 2012
Paperback Release Date- 23rd of October 2012
Publisher- Penguin Group USA

Blurb- Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.

My past was as violent as his, and I was just as broken. We’d never work. It was too hard, too painful... except when it was perfect. Those moments when the driving hunger and desperate love were the most exquisite insanity. We were bound by our need. And our passion would take us beyond our limits to the sweetest, sharpest edge of obsession...

Review- What an intense, smoking hot way to continue the Crossfire series. We start off exactly where we were left in Bared To You, with Eva and Gideon fighting to make their relationship work. Nothing much has changed there. It's still a struggle but they are determined to make it work. I mean, I would want to make it work if I was with Gideon too! Sylvia Day delves into Gideon's past and a few secrets are uncovered. So in between their relationship struggles and every day life a past relationship comes back with all intentions of fighting to get Eva back. What has caused Eva's pain and suffering also comes back to haunt her and her relationship with Gideon. Eva begins to feel like something is not right. Something is off. Gideon is distant (well more distant than usual), and pulling away from her. What could it be?

With a series of events that will have you on the edge of your seat from start to finish mixed with the toe curling sex scenes, Reflected In You will capture your heart, body and soul.

If you haven't read book one, Bared To You, you can check out my review for it HERE.

Review- Forty Shades of Pearl by Arianne Richmonde

Title- Forty Shades of Pearl
Author- Arianne Richmonde
Genre- Romance/ Erotica
Publish Date- 22nd of August 2012
Publisher- Mighty Publications

Blurb- Documentary producer, Pearl Robinson, is a beautiful and smart forty year-old divorcee but has not had a date for over two years. When she hears about Alexandre Chevalier, a young French, Internet success story, she assumes he is a nerd. But when she bumps into him face to face she’s stunned by his charm, beauty and sophistication, and startled by her strong feelings and desire for a man fifteen years her junior. His looks, wealth and worldwide triumph with his social media site, HookedUp, means he can get any woman he chooses, but there is something about Pearl he finds irresistible…

The couple begins a passionate affair and Pearl’s body is awakened in ways she never imagined possible. She is consumed by him and his magical touch. But secrets, jealous family members and other external forces are threatening to pull them apart.

Erotic, humorous, and profoundly tender, Forty Shades of Pearl is a story that will stir your heart, rouse your emotions and touch your soul.

Review-  Ok I am going to do my best to be as honest as possible yet not harsh... As I say a lot, this is my sole opinion. Many may disagree with it, but this is what I think. I have some really strong opinions on this book so please bare with me as I get them all out.

This review may contain some spoilers so if you intend to read it please stop reading.

I am going to start by referring back to the blurb. I am sad to say that it did not stir my heart, rouse my emotions or touch my soul. I found it quite the opposite, very unemotional, and not funny in the slightest. I had a really hard time connecting to the characters and finding any sort of connection between the characters themselves. They lacked chemistry. The first thing that stood out to me was the bashing of 50 Shades of Grey. Now the author didn't actually mention 50 itself but major elements of it. One big "No No" in the writing industry is bashing another authors work. But what confused me the most was to then go and title this book in a way that almost mimics 50 Shades. Whether that was Richmonde's intention I am not sure but what I am sure of is that it irked me. Another thing that I must address is the use of food items during the intimate moments. Now I am all for people expressing their sensuality through food and using it however they see fit, sometimes reading about having warm chocolate smeared over my torso and breasts, then getting licked off by a tall, dark and sexy man is a real turn on, but having cherries put up my clacka then getting sucked out!!! I'm sorry but no! Nor do I think nutella mixed with honey on my breasts with a penis in between appealing either. Now a reminder, this is my opinion. Some people might like that type of thing. Me, not so much. One more thing to mention that I found quite disturbing was a dream that Pearl had which involved pleasuring herself on a horses leg. WHAT?!?!?! That is disgusting! Who even thinks of something like that.

Ok so back to characters. I found Alexandre (how do I put this), kind of repulsive. The way he spoke to Pearl, the way he treated Pearl was horrid. If anyone spoke to me that way they would have gotten punched in the face. This made it so hard for me to see the connection the author was trying to portray between he and Pearl.

All in all I did not enjoy this book whatsoever. I couldn't establish any connection to the book or the characters.

I have scoped out other peoples reviews of 40 Shades of Pearl and it looks like I am the first person to give it a rating under 4 stars so clearly some people do like to read this type of thing. I do apologise to anyone who may have taken offence to my review but once again, it is my opinion.

For those of you who want to check it out for yourself, you can check out AMAZON.

To see what other people have said about 40 Shades of Pearl head on over to GOODREADS.

Book Review: Blood Bond by Heather Hildenbrand

Title: Blood Bond (Dirty Blood #3)
Author: Heather Hildenbrand
Release Date: 31st August 2012
Published by: Accendo Press
Edition: E-copy for review
Genre: YA

Goodreads Description:

Hybrids.

If I had to choose one word to sum up all of my problems, this would be it.
Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to watch my best friend slowly becoming a monster. Without hybrids, I could let go of the mentality “hunt or be hunted.” CHAS wouldn’t be scouring the Earth, intent on slaughtering and using Alex to do it. Without hybrids, I wouldn’t have to be on guard that losing my temper meant losing my shape. There would be no monster inside me, struggling to get out.

Then again, without hybrids, I wouldn’t have Wesley St. John.

My Rating: 5 Amazing Hybrid Sassy Stars

My Review: One word comes to mind...PHENOMENAL!! This series just keeps getting better and better.

To tell the truth I'm at a loss for words, I can't sum up the right words to give this book the true credit it deserves. But I'll do my best...  ;-)

Heather has truly out done herself with another astounding, heart pounding story. I found myself so deep in the book that no one could get my attention (though they tried lol), I was captivated! At one point I was in tears, truly heart broken... (you'll have to read to find out).

Heather's characters came to life through her words and they're easy to connect with, which makes reading that much enjoyable.
Let me tell you, Tara certainly packs a punch in this book, she's one strong kick-arse character who would do pretty much anything to save her family & friends.
Wes and Alex are both in love with Tara and willing to do anything to save her.. *sigh* added bonus they're both dreamy..... ;-)
Our favourite characters from books one & two are back and we also get introduced to some new characters, some good some not so good.

Holy Moly! The ending, trust me it's a jaw dropper. I NEED to know whats going to happen next! I look forward to seeing where Heather will take us next. :-)

My most favourite Werewolf story ever!

Blood Bond is most definitely in my top 5 BEST READS OF 2012. If you haven't read any of these books yet you MUST add them to your TBR piles, trust me, you won't regret it!

Book Review: The Lost Prince by Julie Kagawa

Title: The Lost Prince (Call Of The Forgotten #1)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Release Date: 23rd October 2012
Published By: Harlequin Teen Australia
Editon: ARC from Publisher
Genre: YA

Goodreads Description:

Don't look at Them. Never let Them know you can see Them. That is Ethan Chase's unbreakable rule. Until the fey he avoids at all costs—including his reputation—begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked. Now he must change the rules to protect his family. To save a girl he never thought he'd dare to fall for.

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister's world—the land of Faery. His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies. But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten.

My Rating: 5 Nevernever Sassy Stars

My Review: First I'd like to thank Harlequin Teen Australia & NetGalley for sending me a copy in return for an honest review.

Opening my package and holding it in my hands, that's all it took and I was bouncing around in my chair ready for a new adventure. O.M.G it was so, so good to be back in the Nevernever. Being a huge Iron Fey fan I've been absolutely dying to read this since Julie announced it.
I have to admit though it was a little strange reading from Ethan's POV, but after a few pages that feeling disappeared. Ethan's all grown up and now fighting his own battles with the fey, he's turned into one strong, couragious, hunky guy! ;-)

Each letter, every word was written with pure magic, from the very first sentence "My name is Ethan Chase. And I doubt I'll live to see my eighteenth birthday." We meet all the new characters, (one in particular I was excited to meet) also have a few pop ins from our old favourites. We're thrown into chaio's, non stop surprises around every corner. I was absolutely absorbed in this story, I swear my ears have grown half an inch LOL! ;-)

Julie Kagawa has given us another heart pounding fantasy adventure and I for one can't WAIT for book 2 The Traitor Son coming in 2013.

Here's a quote from the book..

"The Nevernever," she murmured, almost to herself. "I'm in the Nevernever. I'm in the freaking Nevernever."

Haha! I think we all feel like this with each iron fey book we read. ;-)

If you haven't read any of The Iron Fey books yet, I recommend you check them out they are MUST READS!!!

I can't say anymore otherwise I'll give too much away. ;-)

Dirty Blood, Chapter Twenty-Three
In Wes’s apartment after the dance/attack on the road
Through Wes’s eyes:

Tara stared back at me. It was all I could do not to rush across the space and crush her body against mine. I’d just admitted to wanting Vera’s vision to come true. The part about Tara and I—together—being our destiny. Not to mention I’d told her everything. Finally. That part felt good. At least up until Jack found out what I’d done. After that, I’d be dead meat.
I couldn’t tell by her expression how she was taking it, or whether it had been a mistake, but it hadn’t been nearly as scary saying the words aloud as I’d expected. Scarier than that was the fear of what she’d think that I’d been holding it all back. That I’d essentially lied. Tara hated lies.
And I couldn’t lose her. Not now. After everything we’d come through.
“You don’t want that?” she asked, cutting through my worry. Her voice broke on the last word. My arms ached for her, if nothing else than to soothe her fear.
“It’s not that,” I assured her quickly. “I want that very much.”
Her face lit up. Relief, happiness? I’d take either.
My palms itched to touch her. I couldn’t sit still any longer. I went to her, prying her hands from her own arms where she’d hugged herself against everything I’d told her, and pulled her against me. My hands went to her back, her shoulders, her hair, soothing and stroking. I waited for her to pull away. Any minute, she’d rail at me for the way I’d handled things.
“I do owe you an apology, though,” I said, keeping my arms around her as I spoke. “I was irritated at having my future decided for me by some vision. I was stubborn and unwilling to admit I was falling for you, even when I already knew I had. I kept trying to push you away, along with my feelings for you. It didn’t work, obviously, but I am sorry I ended up hurting you.”
She pulled away far enough that our eyes met. “That’s the reason for the mood swings?”
“Yes. I’m sorry.”
She frowned. “You should’ve told me.”
“I know.”
“Vera can’t—I mean, this pull we feel for each other—did she do that?”
“No. She can’t do something like that. The pull is real. If I’m right about you, it probably has something to do with both of us being mixed.”
“Like our body’s sensors don’t feel danger around the other?”
“Something like that.”
She considered that and ever so slowly, the frown faded, until finally her lips curved upward. “I forgive you.”
My knees trembled in relief. “You seem to be taking all this vision stuff pretty well.”
“I guess I’m just glad to finally know what everyone’s been keeping from me. Not that I really believe what Vera saw, but if I did, well … you can’t mess with destiny.”
“I guess not,” I agreed. I felt the words building in me, rising closer and closer to the surface. The thought of saying them out loud terrified me but they came anyway, unbidden by conscious thought.
“Tara, I love you,” I heard myself say.
I sucked in a breath. Fighting that Werewolf earlier tonight had been easier than this moment. I searched her expression, my lungs ready to burst.
“I love you, too,” she whispered. Then she kissed me.
Inside the darkness of my closed lids, I basked in the warmth of her response. She loved me too. The fact both terrified and excited me. We’d never be safe together. Vera’s visions were true enough. With Tara by my side, we’d always be fighting or looking over our shoulders. The fact that we were Dirty Blood was bad enough. But, together? United? Both sides would undoubtedly see it as a threat of epic proportions. I’d known that all along. It’s one of the things that held me back.
But right now, in this moment, with my hands in her hair and her mouth molded against mine, it didn’t matter. We’d fight it. We’d beat them. Wrapped in the gentleness of her embrace, I silently vowed to do whatever was necessary to make my destiny come true.

Review- Where There's a Will by Karen Kelley

But being good doesn't seem to get her anywhere with men, and her confidence is on a downward spiral. She's ready to try something altogether different, but hasn't a clue where to start. He Might Take Her Beyond Them...
Ryder is the perfect combination of powerful angel plus normal hot–blooded man. Crossing into the mortal world could cost him his existence. But mortals are like a potent drug to Ryder, and Hayley is quickly becoming his drug of choice...

 Review

So I had a look at what other people have been rating this book at and the majority of what I saw was pretty average. I'm not sure why, but each to their own. I have nothing but high praises for Karen Kelley and this fantastic book!

 So where do I start?!?!?!

I absolutely adored this book. It touched base with so many issues that women internally battle with every day. The only difference with this is that Haley's prayers were answered by one smoking hot angel who's soul purpose for meeting her was to make her believe she was beautiful and sexy and not the frump that she thinks she is. Can I get one of those? Because the journey to self love that Ryder took Haley on was just amazing. Beautiful, sexy, erotic, loving, humorous and intense all at the same time. I don't even think I have ever been as animated while reading a book as I was while reading Where There's a Will. I giggled, laughed, got teary eyed, got anxious, wiggled my toes in anticipation, I swear my heart even skipped a beat a few times. There is nothing a woman wants more than having the man of their dreams adore every part of their body, to feel sexy and powerful even with all of those little imperfections.
The journey doesn't go without a few hiccups though, which makes for one exciting roller-coaster ride of drama and emotions.
My final word?
I closed this book with the biggest grin on my face.
And I think you will too!
If not, shoot me! (Not literally)

Betrayal Blog Tour

Welcome to your next stop on the Betrayal Blog Tour!
We hope you have enjoyed the tour so far. So on this stop we have a spotlight on Gregg Olsen, my review and of course the entry form into  the giveaway.

So let's get started.

A Seattle native who lives in Washington State, Gregg has seen the darker side of the Pacific Northwest and knows a little more about the area than your average guy. "There is something dark and beautiful about the Pacific Northwest," he says. "We seem to have an overabundance of serial killers out here- so many, in fact, sometimes I wonder if they have a secret convention in Washington."

A New York Times and USA Today bestselling author with 13 books and sales of over one-million copies to his credit, Gregg made his young-adult fiction debut with Envy. The follow-up, Betrayal, will be published in September 2012

You can stalk Gregg some more by checking out his WEBSITE, FACEBOOK, TWITTER and GOODREADS.

 Onto the book!

In this action-packed thriller sequel to Envy, foreign exchange student Olivia Grant is stabbed to death after a party--and the prime suspect is her best friend. As twins Hayley and Taylor Ryan get pulled into the aftermath of this Amanda Knox-like crime, the realize nothing is what it seems. Could it be betrayal of the ultimate kind?

Betrayal features real-life crime-solving techniques, heart-stopping suspense, plenty of red herrings, hard hitting ethical questions, and information about the Amanda Knox case that inspired the novel. As the crime unravels, so does the twins' past... and they must face off against a family member who may unexpectedly have carried out the worst betrayal of all.

Here is what I think about Betrayal.

My first murder mystery, and I must say it wasn't too bad. Lot's of twist's and turns, which had me trying to guess who the killer was right up until they were revealed by the author. The characters themselves were tipped the scales on each end when it came to their persona's which was entertaining.

When it came to the actual story and writing itself, yes it was entertaining, however I did get bored in bits and let me tell you why. As you read earlier, Gregg Olsen has a high interest in crime and makes himself knowledgeable in everything to do with it from the crimes themselves to the investigation procedures that follow. I commend him for his research and knowledge on the subject before writing about it because there is nothing worse than an author who has no idea what they are talking about. Anyway, my point is, I found that he pushed/ showed off his knowledge a bit too much. The autopsy and police reports I skimmed over as they were boring and drawn out and for a book meant for the YA genre, that is a bad thing. Young Adults have a hard enough time picking up a book as it is let alone one that has drawn out parts in it.

Everyone has their own opinion and I'm sure there are others who have read it an thoroughly enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong, I loved the mystery surrounding the killer and the concept of the story. Maybe if it were delivered differently, I would have enjoyed it even more. With that said here is my rating...

Review- Initiation (Bonfire Academy #1) by Imogen Rose

Title- Initiation (Bonfire Academy #1)
Author- Imogen Rose
Genre- YA Paranormal
Publish Date- 25th of December 2011

Blurb- Welcome to Bonfire Academy. Set in the foothills of the alpine mountains in St.Moritz, this exclusive private school caters to a special kind of student. Enter at your own risk... but if you are human, you may not want to enter at all.

Review- Imogen Rose has delivered an entertaining read with Initiation. Her characters and storyline are intriguing and creative.

We start off with Cordelia, a demon, who has been chosen to mentor a new student, Faustine, a half human half demon hybrid who is also London's Demon King's daughter. After being attacked on Faustine's first day, Cordelia realizes mentoring Faustine will be harder than she thought. With an initiate to watch over, and being torn between her boyfriend and a guy she has been synced with, Cordelia's journey is fast paced and thoroughly entertaining.

With twists and turns on every page, Initiation will have your mind and imagination on overload. I highly recommend reading this one. It's the perfect little escape into the paranormal world.

Here's an excerpt to entice you even more...

Excerpt from Chapter 10

Taking in the Fall air, I find it's just how I like it—cool, clear, and crisp. The moon is a big bright ball in the dark sky, and I'm instantly thankful for natures help in lighting our path. Phoenix's footsteps echo behind me, slapping hard against the pavement. Mixed feelings of hope and desperation cling to his skin, and my heart once again grieves for his situation.
I halt my steps suddenly, right in the middle of the empty sidewalk. Turning around I face him, seeing that his hands are deep in his pockets, his shoulders slouched, and his eyes on me. We eyeball each other a moment until I can't take it anymore.
“Why didn't you let me know where you were?” I inquire, giving him a hard glare. He shrugs his shoulders, his gaze falling to the ground.
“I don't know. All I knew at the time was that I needed to be alone.” His gaze drifts back up. “I had to process everything. I had to sit back and evaluate my position.”
“Your position?” I query, confused. What did he mean by that?
He nods. “It's not just me I have to take care of. I have four other souls to think about, to look after. They all depend on me, and look up to me. They trust me. And how do I repay them for their trust? By attacking an Untouched, that's how.”
“You were just upset. You made one mistake.” I take a step forward, reaching for him, but he backs away from me.
“Gracen,” he says, his voice quivering, “they expect me to lead them. What kind ofleader can't control himself in the normal world?”
Taking a step forward, I reach up to place an encouraging hand on his shoulder. This time he stays put.
“Phoenix, you can't let one mistake sidetrack you from your chosen path.” Slowly I lift my hand to his face, palming his cheek. The protective guard to my heart is slipping away, opening up for someone I've only known a short while. “You're not alone anymore. I'll be here for you, but please promise you won't leave me hanging again.”
Studying me, he raises his hand to mine and gives it a gentle squeeze.
“I promise you,” he tells me, his voice deep and soft, “I'll never leave you hanging again.” Gazing down at my lips, his head dips down, and my heart goes into triple beats. I close my eyes, readying myself for his kiss, when suddenly a noise across the street catches our attentions.
Before I can think, Phoenix pulls me into the shadows of the nearest alley. We both crouch down and watch. The Silver Eagle starts burning in my blood, alerting me that midnight has arrived.
Phoenix is stiff and rigid next to me as we both let our supernatural feelers loose to scope the newcomers, hoping to find out if they are human or something else. When a lady giggles abrasively, followed by a man's gruff laugh, I quickly realize that they are human...and extremely drunk. Even from across the street I can smell the liquor on them. They stagger down the sidewalk, stuck in their own boozed-up world. We watch quietly as they enter an apartment building, kissing passionately before going in.
“Gee, I wonder what they're about to do?” Phoenix wonders aloud, sounding amused.
I laugh. “I'm sure they're not going in for a game of Charades.” He begins laughing along with me, but stops when he sees my face.
“Whoa! What happened to your eyes and face?”
Feeling self-conscience I answer, “I go through a transformation after midnight. My eyes turn completely silver, and silver claw marks appear on my face. Why do you ask? Are you freaked-out by my appearance?” Immediately he replies, “No, absolutely not! It's just that I didn't know...”
“I can put on my sunglasses if it makes you feel better.” I pull my black sunglasses out of my pocket and start to place them on my face, but he grabs my hand.
“No, don't,” he whispers, shaking his head. “Don't hide your true self. You're too beautiful.” He's looking at my lips again, and I know he wants to kiss me; I also know we're not going to get any work done if we continue to fawn over each other.
“Come on, Phoenix. We'd better—”
“Do you smell that?” he interrupts, lifting his nose to the air and taking a big whiff.
Confused I sniff the air as well. “No, I don't smell anything.”
He narrows his eyes and that's when I notice some changes in his appearance. I watch in wonder as blackness slowly covers his eyes completely. The black coiled viper becomes more prominent on his cheek, the surface of it on his skin looking slick and oily. He closes his eyes, taking another deep breath. I do the same, trying to free every sense I possess.
Opening my eyes I say, “All I can smell is garbage. What are you smelling?”
Suddenly he opens his black eyes, causing a jump out of me. He doesn't notice. There's a feral, vicious gleam in his blackened pupils, and a growl rises up from his chest. This time the growl sounds deeper, more animal-like than the one at school. At this moment I process reality—I am now seeing his true, supernatural side.
“Trolls,” he says in a hushed growl. “I smell trolls.”

Sounds like an awesome read, ha?! Hope you've all added this book to YOUR to-read lists, I know I have! :-)
