Talon
(Talon,#1)
By Julie Kagawa
Expected Publication: 28th October 2014
Published by: Harlequin Teen
Long ago, dragons were hunted to near extinction by the Order of St. George, a legendary society of dragon slayers. Hiding in human form and growing their numbers in secret, the dragons of Talon have become strong and cunning, and they're positioned to take over the world with humans none the wiser.
Ember and Dante Hill are the only sister and brother known to dragonkind. Trained to infiltrate society, Ember wants to live the teen experience and enjoy a summer of freedom before taking her destined place in Talon. But destiny is a matter of perspective, and a rogue dragon will soon challenge everything Ember has been taught. As Ember struggles to accept her future, she and her brother are hunted by the Order of St. George.
Soldier Garret Xavier Sebastian has a mission to seek and destroy all dragons, and Talon's newest recruits in particular. But he cannot kill unless he is certain he has found his prey: and nothing is certain about Ember Hill. Faced with Ember's bravery, confidence and all-too-human desires, Garret begins to question everything that the Order has ingrained in him: and what he might be willing to give up to find the truth about dragons.

My Rating:
5 SASSY BOOKS!
My Review:
My first thought when I saw this book... a book about dragons... I'M SO IN!!!
Being a huge fan of Julie Kagawa it wasn't a hard choice when I saw this baby up on Netgalley, my finger had a mind of it's own *REQUEST* lol. Best moment, opening your kindle app and seeing it waiting there for you to devour! Bare with me while I TRY to put what I felt about this book into words...
AH-FRICKEN-MAZING!!!!
Another mind-blowing story from the brilliant mind of Julie Kagawa. I now know why this book is being made into a movie.
We meet Ember & Dante, two dragons (they're twins also, which is unheard of in dragons) that have completed a part of their training and are now tasked to blend in and live among the humans over summer break. Ember is so happy to finally be out and being able to experience a little freedom before she's sent back to Talon to fulfil her destiny. Talon is very strict with the rules: curfews, no shifting, no flying, never associate with the enemy, etc. The one thing they're adamant on is humans are expendable.
There's a rogue dragon loose in town and he seems to have his eye on Ember. There's something about this rogue that she finds interesting. He's dark, sexy and full of secrets.
When a young man named Garret bursts into Ember's life, she finds herself being drawn to him, she starts to experience feelings that dragons aren't meant to have. But what's a girl (I mean Dragon) to do?
Loved Ember, she was such a fun character. I loved that she wasn't the type to let anyone walk all over her, she has backbone! She can also be sweet and loving. She cares dearly for her brother Dante, being twins I think in any form always leaves a special bond. But unfortunately, Dante looks to have been sucked in by Talon and Ember does everything she can to make him see the light.
Garret is all grit, until he meets Ember. She brings something out in him he's never experienced before. Also, he's definitely book boyfriend material ... tingles alert lol
I loved everything about this book ... from it's compelling storyline & lovable characters, to it's blood thirsty soldiers and fire breathing dragons. This story will take you on a whirlwind adventure, that you won't want to end. I'm strapped in and ready for the next adventure!
