But it is cut short when Ember discovers that her new friends are fighting on the opposite side of a war—one that’s been raging between two factions of Watchers for thousands of years. My Review:

I loved the cover for Embers and GAIA is just as gorgeous if not more.

It will be a year ago on the 4th of September that I finished the last page of Embers and was left completely blown away and begging for more. It was the best feeling opening my kindle app and seeing this ready for me to start and devour!

From the first page we're swept back into the world of Angel's, Demons & Watchers. A war is brewing and Ember seems to be right in the middle of it being forced to choose a side. Will she choose the right one? You'll have to read to find out. ^_^
I love watching Ember's character grow and learn to weld her powers, she's sharp-witted, strong and so easy to connect with. She's fast becoming one of my fave heroines.

Hopkins has written another brilliant page turner, with twists and turns, vivid details and captivating characters, you'll be sure to get caught up like I did. I can not wait for the next book!
If you haven't started these books yet, then I highly recommend picking up Embers and starting now, you won't regret it. ^_^

Guest Post

• My favourite scene from GAIA or Ember & why

Gaia was an incredibly fun story to write. I’d already developed my main characters and setting in Embers. To me that’s the most difficult aspect of writing a series. Once the foundation is laid, I can focus on propelling the story forward, and that’s exactly what I did in Gaia.

There’s several scenes in this installment that will take your breath away, but the one that was extra special to me involved taking Ember and her friends to an Amish community in search of a powerful Watcher who was hiding there. It was fun to infuse a little Amish writing into my paranormal series, and I’m sure my Amish fiction fans will really enjoy these chapters.

I think it’s meaningful for authors to write from their personal knowledge and experience. It makes their words ring truer for the reader.

About the author

Karen Ann Hopkins resides in northern Kentucky with her family on a farm that boasts a menagerie of horses, goats, peacocks, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs and cats. Karen's main job is home schooling the kids, but she finds time to give riding lessons, coach a youth equestrian drill team, and of course, write. She was inspired to create her first book, Temptation, by the Amish community she lived in. The experiential knowledge she gained through her interactions with her neighbors drove her to create the story of the star-crossed lovers, Rose and Noah.

Karen grew up about a mile from Lake Ontario in Upstate New York. She was bitten by the horse bug at the age of five, and after diligently taking riding lessons for several years, was rewarded with her first horse when she turned eleven. The feisty horse's name was Lady, a Quarter Horse-Thoroughbred cross, who became Karen's steadfast companion. Through the years, the constant force in her life was horses. Eventually, she found her place as a riding instructor herself. Before accepting her fate in the barnyard, she worked a short stint as a paralegal, traveled abroad, and guided tourists on horseback riding tours in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee.

Karen is currently working on her Amish mystery series, Serenity's Plain Secrets, along with the YA paranormal/fantasy series, The Wings of War. Karen is also excited to announce the Temptation series has been optioned for TV by Pilgrim Studios and is available on Audible. More books in the Temptation series are in the works.
