Rachel's Deception
(Temptation, #4)
By Karen Ann Hopkins
Release Date: 8th May, 2015
Growing up Amish is difficult…but leaving it behind is even harder.
Noah was Amish...Rose wasn't. Being together should have been impossible. But somehow they found a way to make it work. They are finally a family, but their happily-ever-after is still a long off. Will Rose and her friends be able to force real change?
Karen Ann Hopkins returns with a gripping new book in the YA Temptation series. The powerful family saga continues with Rachel's Deception, as events spiral out of control in the sleepy farming community of Meadowview. And Rachel Miller has her own secrets to hide. Noah’s younger sister has been living a double life. That is, until Justin Cameron, Rose's little brother, catches her in the act. Rachel is not the obedient Amish girl that her sister was, and her rebelliousness takes her to a very dangerous world. A world that only her true friends can help her escape from.
As Rachel questions all she has been taught about love, family, and commitment, Rose discovers what it really means to be shunned. And an evil shadow looms on the horizon, threatening not only Rose, but everyone she holds dear.
My Rating:
5 SASSY BOOKS!!
My Review:
When I found out there was going to be another book in this series I literally squealed out loud. I just love this series and the characters.
From the first page I swept away, it was so wonderful jumping back into the Amish community. This story follows Rachel, Noah's little sister. She's hit a rebellious stage and starts sneaking out with some English friends and partying till all hours of the morning.
If you've read the other books in the series, you'll know that it's about Rose and Noah's story. I love that we still get to hear from Rose and know how they're going and what they're doing now.
I highly recommend this series if you're looking for something new and exciting, with lots of drama and heartache.

Thank you for having me today! The following is one of my favorite scenes in Rachel’s Deception (there are a lot!). For those of you who are fans of the Temptation series already, you’ve experienced all the turmoil that Rose and Noah experienced to finally be together. In this fourth book in the series, there are changes on the wind in the community, deception, secrets, budding relationships, and a menacing threat on the horizon. But for all of that, the love affair between Rose and Noah is still at the heart of it all. I wanted readers to get a peek at how their relationship has deepened and matured, and especially of Noah’s personal growth. Enjoy!
Noah’s eyes widened and he held up his palms to slow me down. “Whoa, it doesn’t really matter what I think. Abram and the ministers are against it and I don’t have a dog in the fight.”
Before I even began to speak, Noah’s face turned down in a worried frown.
“Uh, that’s not exactly true,” I said sweetly.
“Rose…?” Noah was definitely terrified now.
“Summer and I are going to be business partners with the girls. We’re calling the shop Stitches—N—Stuff.” Once I started talking, excitement shimmered through me and I couldn’t stop. “We’ll sell cloth and sewing supplies, too, and Sarah Ann can spend the day right there at the shop with me. It will be perfect.”
“You’re not a seamstress and you certainly don’t know anything about sewing supplies. Why do you want to get involved in such an endeavor?”
I let his words slide off my back, more intent on convincing him what a grand idea it was and not so worried about my pride at the moment.
“Noah, don’t you see? It’s nearly impossible for me to go back to school right now with Sarah Ann so young, and even if I could work it out somehow, I wouldn’t want to leave her. And I certainly don’t want to go to night classes when that’s the only time I get to see you.” I paused and tucked my hair behind my ear, collecting my thoughts at the same time. “Even though I love being home with Sarah Ann…I get a little lonely…and bored sometimes. I think I need something to do—to build—if you know what I mean.”
Noah thought for a moment, and then his face softened. “Rose, sweetheart, if you really want to do it, I’ll support you wholeheartedly. Matthew and I can even convert the building from a bakery into a clothing shop—put up racks and shelves and such. But you still have Abram to contend with, and frankly, that’s a huge obstacle.”
“We have a plan to deal with the bishop. I don’t think he’ll be a problem after all.”
Noah looked at me with raised brows. I pursed my lips and said, “You know, I was thinking that I don’t really feel like going to a movie.”
Noah’s expression changed to anticipation. “What do you want to do, wife?” he asked in a velvet voice.
I glanced at my cell phone and saw that there weren’t any messages or missed calls. “It looks as if Sam and Summer are going to survive until midnight. That gives us a few hours to do anything we want. Seems like a shame to waste a big, old empty house on a movie.”
“I agree.” Noah leaned over the table and without any modesty at all, kissed me full on the lips. Sometimes Noah shocked me, and this was one of those times. If I hadn’t known better, I wouldn’t have believed that he’d grown up Amish.
I trembled with anticipation as his mouth closed over mine. The kiss was a promise of better things yet to come.
Thank you so much for your interest in Rachel’s Deception, the Temptation series, and my other books: Embers (YA paranormal), Lamb to the Slaughter and Whispers from the Dead (adult Amish mysteries)! I love to connect with readers and I’d be happy to answer questions about the Amish way of life.
