Outlander
(Outlander, #1)
By Diana Gabaldon
The year is 1945.
Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited
with her husband on a second honeymoon—when she walks through a
standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British
Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by
war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord . . . 1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life . . . and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire . . . and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

My Review:
Watched
the first episode of Outlander and jumped online and bought the book
straight away. A few weeks later when it arrived I was seriously
speechless about how huge it is. Over 800 pages, dear Lord, I was
thinking it would take me forever to read. It didn't of course. ;-)
Before I started this book I'd watched the full first half of the show and wanted more, the waiting for the second half was killing me. So I picked up the book and got started.
Diana has written a brilliant story. A tragic love story of a woman torn between two different lives, her old one and a new one.
We're swept up into the battle between the Scottish and English. There were a few times I was shocked with things that were happening but no matter what I read I just couldn't stop. I was completely drawn in and addicted. I laughed, I shed a few tears, I got butt kicking mad and I fell in love.
The descriptions were perfect, I would melt away into the Scottish highlands with my favourite man Jamie Fraser. I felt like Claire, that I'd travelled back in time, cause I could picture everything so clearly, like I really was there. Was amazing!!
I can't wait to dive into book two and see where the characters will take us next, let the next adventure begin!! ^_^

I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great adventure. Suited for 18+ readers due to sexual and very graphic content.
HAPPY READING!!!
