Blog Tour and Review- Unspoken Words by K.M. Golland

UW - BT banner

This is a story of unspoken words and how loud they can be.

Unspoken Words, “a wonderful story of first love, first heartbreak” from K.M. Golland is available now!

Unspoken Words - E-Cover

Connor Bourke and I met when we were twelve years old. He was a quiet boy with so much to say and only one way to say it—through song. He’d lost his best friend to cancer, so I showed him there was love and life in loss, and to hold on to his memories, always.
Eloise Mitchell was a blazing fire when my world turned dark. She’d shined so bright and burned so fierce that the wall I’d built around myself simply melted to the ground at her feet.
We shared everything together:
Our first kiss,
first love,
first mistake,
and first regret.
She taught me to speak,
to forgive,
and to never forget.
Through his music, he could say all he needed to say except for, ‘I love you’.
I could never tell her those three words.
Yet, I knew he meant them, that he loved me beyond all measure, beyond time
… beyond a broken heart.
I loved her more than anything.
Our bond was unbreakable.
Our love was ever after.
But, then, we tend to destroy the ones we love most.
And all bonds break, especially when the heart is what holds them together.

RENEE'S REVIEW

5 OF THE BIGGEST STARS IN THE UNIVERSE!

My #1 Book for 2019!

I have been a HUGE fan of KM for many years. Ever since I was asked to review her first book, Temptation. Since then, I don't have to know what her books are about to want to read them. She's just that author for me. If her name is on it, SIGN. ME. UP!
She draws me in with her addictive storylines, witty lingo, and staying true to her Aussie self.

Unspoken Words was no different, but at the same time, it was.
In the best way.

We meet Connor and Eloise as young kids, who connect when Connor was at his lowest, having lost his best friend. We follow them through friendship, through their young love, through their heartbreaking times and through their all consuming love for each other. Each part more intense than the last. Now let me tell you, it was INTENSE!

KM delivered the most beautiful, yet soul crushing story I have ever read!
It is perfectly bitter sweet.

I turned that final page with tears streaming down my face and what felt like an elephant sitting on my chest. This book left me and emotional mess and physically hurting to the point where I messaged KM and told her that I hate her. In that moment I think I did. I mean, how dare she put me through that! But I don't really hate her. I love her. I love her words, I love her mind, and I love how she was able to make me feel every single emotion, even the shitty ones.
Only the best writers can.

So grab a box of tissues to wipe those tears, both happy and sad, get this book, and snuggles up and dive in. You won't regret it. KM might, with the amount of threats of violence that are sure to come her way. Don't actually hurt her though, we need her to keep writing her amazing words.

Unspoken Words - Get burned

Excerpt
“Eloise.” Connor’s hand shot out and clasped mine. “Don’t leave.” “Please let go. I can’t stay here right now. I need air.” He didn’t quite chuckle but waved his hand at the space around us instead. “There’s plenty of air.” “Yeah, but you’re stealing it,” I choked out, unable to hold back my tears. “You’re always stealing my air.” “What are you talking about?” “You!” I shrugged out of his clasp so that I could point my trembling finger at him. “You breathe air into me and then you steal it, and I’m left gasping. Why do you do that? Why can’t you just let me breathe with you?” Connor’s wide eyes searched mine, darting from side to side like a ball in a pinball machine. He looked so lost and helpless, and stupid, so I elaborated. “Every second we are together, I feel alive. Every kiss, every touch, every unspoken word breathes life into me and I tether myself to it, afraid to let go. But then you refuse to tell me how you truly feel with the words you were given, words I know you can damn well say and choose not to, and it sucks that air right back out of me, and I … I can’t breathe.” He closed his eyes, his shoulders sagging. “Why’s it so hard for you to say?” Connor didn’t respond. He just kept his eyes pressed shut, as if I weren’t even there, and it ripped me in two. “JUST SAY IT,” I shouted. “Just tell me you love me. I know you do.” “If you know I do then why do you need to hear it?” “Because some words mean so much. Some words need to be heard and spoken.” “Not those.” “Of course those. They’re the most important three words anyone can say.” “No, baby, you’re wrong.” Connor opened his eyes, grasped my arms, and pulled me to sit on his lap, securing me tightly, his finger tracing a heart over my own. “My love for you goes beyond what words can say and do, so yeah, I choose not to say them. Those three words are empty where we’re concerned.” I sobbed. “But I need to hear them.” “You don’t,” he whispered, pressing his palm over my heart and placing my palm over his, the pressure firm, both of our hands unmoving. “Do you feel that?” A reverberating beat travelled through my body into his and from his into mine, our pressed hands a bridge, one beginning where one ended. We begin where we end. What I’d written in my notebook before we made love hit me like a truck, and I jolted and gasped. “What, Eloise? What’s wrong?” “I get it.” “Get what?” “I get that you don’t want to say what you feel or that some words to you are empty. I get that, deep down, we don’t need words to prove our love, that what’s in here,” I said, massaging my fingers into his chest, “and here,” I added, twitching my other hand over my breast, “speak for us.” A small smile crept across his face. “But,” I continued, “words mean a lot to me. You know that. They’re not empty where I’m concerned. They could never be empty.” He sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly. “If you want words so desperately, I’ll give you words. But they’ll be my words. No one else’s.” “All I’ve ever wanted was your words, Connor Burke.” “Okay,” he said, cupping my face. “You’re. My. Ever. After.” A tear spilled down my cheek. They weren’t the words I’d expected him to say and, yet, to him, they meant more. They meant always and forever. They were perfect. Sinking into his arms, I let Connor cradle me for what felt like an eternity, and I realised in that moment that an eternity with him would never be long enough, that always and forever was too short.

Butterfly In Frost by Sylvia Day! Review & Exclusive Excerpt PLUS Giveaway!

Sylvia Day is one of those authors that you don't have to read the blurb or know what her next book is about to be excited and pre order because you just know it's going to be THAT GOOD!
So when an email came through for the opportunity to review her next release Butterfly In Frost, I jumped at the chance. I mean, who wouldn't want to be one of the first people in the world to read it before anyone else.

And let me tell you, she did not disappoint!

Title: Butterfly in Frost
Author: Sylvia Day
Release Date: August 27, 2019
Publisher: Montlake Romance

Once, I would never have imagined myself here. But I’m settled now. In a place I love, in a home I renovated, spending time with new friends I adore, and working a job that fulfills me. I am reconciling the past and laying the groundwork for the future.
Then Garrett Frost moves in next door.
He’s obstinate and too bold, a raging force of nature that disrupts the careful order of my life. I recognize the ghosts that haunt him, the torment driving him. Garrett would be risky in any form, but wounded, he’s far more dangerous. I fear I’m too fragile for the storm raging inside him, too delicate to withstand the pain that buffets him. But he’s too determined…and too tempting.
And sometimes hope soars above even the iciest desolation.

Excerpt: Butterfly in Frost by Sylvia Day

Roxy bounces on her feet with excitement. “Les and Marge sold their house.”

I blink. “I didn’t know they were selling.”

She laughs and heads toward the front door. “That’s the thing. They weren’t.”

“Wait, what?” I hurry after her as she steps outside.

I look to the right at my home, a lovingly restored butterfly-roofed midcentury, then on to the traditional house just beyond it that belongs—belonged—to Les and Marge. Including Roxy’s, all three of our homes have unique lots set between the homes that line the street and the Sound, affording us unhindered views of the water as well as exceptional privacy—all within a twenty-minute drive of the airport.

Roxy shortens the length of her stride to allow me to catch up, then glances over at me. “The day after you flew to New York, a Range Rover pulled into their driveway, and the guy inside offered them cash to close—and move out—in fourteen days.”

My step falters, and Minnie gets momentarily tangled in her leash. The dog shoots me what I would describe as an irritated look, then keeps trotting forward. “That’s crazy.”

“Isn’t it? Les wouldn’t say how much the offer was, but I’m thinking it was huge.”

We march up the inclined driveway, my head tilted back to take in the houses scaling the hillside. Designed with big windows to maximize the view, the homes have a look of wide-eyed wonder. Our little stretch of the Sound used to be a secret, but with the housing boom taking over Seattle and Tacoma, we’ve been discovered. Many residences are undergoing major renovation to suit the tastes of new owners.

Reaching the road, we turn left. To the right is a dead end.

“Well, if they’re happy,” I say, “I’m happy for them.”

“They’re overwhelmed. It was a lot to happen all at once, but I think they’re happy with their decision.” Roxanne stops when Bella does, and we wait as the two dogs mark one of their usual spots on the gravel edging the asphalt. There are no curbs on the streets in our neighborhood and no sidewalks. Just beautiful lawns and a profusion of flowering shrubs.

“We all tried prying information out of them,” she goes on, “but they weren’t sharing anything about the sale.” She gives me a sidelong glance. “But they did share a bit about the buyer.”

“Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Because Mike and I both think the buyer is someone famous. A film director maybe. Or an artist. Can you imagine? First Emily, a bestselling author. Then you, a reality-TV surgeon. Now this guy! Maybe we’re sitting on the new Malibu—beachside living without wildfires or state income tax!”

The mention of Roxy’s husband, Mike, coaxes an inner smile. A New York transplant like me, he adds a welcome touch of the life I left behind to the reality I’ve since created for myself—a reality that’s just been rocked by the loss of neighbors I like.

“What are the clues you’re working with?” I ask, deciding to play along. If I’ve learned anything the past year, it’s to accept the things I cannot change. A tough task for a control freak like me.

“Les pointed out to this guy that he hadn’t even seen the inside of the house. The guy said he didn’t need to. He knew already that ‘the light is perfect.’ I mean, who would say that? Gotta be someone who’s in visual arts, right?”

“Maybe,” I agree tentatively, disquieted by the unexpected conversation. The road rises sharply before us, the incline steep enough to put a little burn in my thighs. “Doesn’t mean he’s famous, though.”

“That’s the thing.” Her words carry a note of breathlessness. “Les wouldn’t give numbers, but he did say it was crazy the guy didn’t just buy that huge compound at the end of the street. That house is listed for three and a half million!”

My mind staggers at the thought. Les and Marge have—had—a beautiful home, but it’s not worth anywhere near that much.

“I think I saw the buyer once through that big arched window in the living room,” Roxy goes on. “The blonde with him was a looker. Supermodel skinny with legs for days.”

I’m panting when we reach the top; Roxy, who hits a gym most days of the week, is not.

A quarter mile farther, there’s a street to the right leading to Dash Point. Beyond that and straight ahead, the road slopes back down and around until it’s at water level. Redondo Beach is there, as is Salty’s, a restaurant on stilts in the water with expansive views of Poverty Bay and beyond. I’m about to wax poetic about Salty’s seafood chowder when a runner dashes around the corner at a full sprint. His sudden appearance rattles me. A closer look makes me freeze midstride. My breath locks in my lungs.

There are too many things to register at once, so my mind attempts to absorb the whole man. Dressed only in black shorts and shoes, he is a visual feast of deeply tanned skin, intricate sleeves of tattooed art, and sweat-slicked, flexing musculature.

And his face. Sculpted. Square-jawed. Brutally, breathlessly handsome.

Roxy, now a few feet in front of me, gives a low whistle. “Hot damn.”

5 Delicious Stars!

Sylvia Day sure knows how to capture her readers, even after the very first page. She creates these addictive stories that suck you in and keep you hanging on every word. Butterfly In Frost is no exception.

She takes us on an emotional journey of love and tragic loss as we the explore the relationship of Teagan and Garrett that is sizzling with intense desire from the moment they lay eyes on each other. Their story doesn't come without struggle though, both battling demons from their past that threaten to swallow them into darkness.

I dove into this story and stayed submerged until the very end, captivated by the characters and hooked on the dramatics of the storyline. I devoured page after page, feeling all of the feelings, never wanting it to end.

Butterfly In Frost is a story that I will happily escape into over and over again and I'll be waiting in line on release day to purchase my paperback. I highly recommend you do the same. You will thank me later.

Butterfly In Frost will be available in any good book store or visit AMAZON to purchase.

Review- From Here to You by Jamie McGuire

As Darby Dixon sits in a tiny Texas church bathroom on her wedding day holding a positive pregnancy test, she realizes that of all the bad decisions she's made in her life, marrying her abusive fiancĂ© would be the worst. She's never been able to stand up for herself, but she'll sure as hell stand up for her baby. With just the cash she has on hand, she runs to get a bus ticket to the farthest place she can afford. Between her sheer grit and pageant-queen smile, she lands a job as a front desk clerk at the Colorado Springs Hotel. It's not a glamorous life, but she and her baby are all that matters.

A former Marine, Scott "Trex" Trexler has worked in the most dangerous, corrupt, war-torn places on earth. Now he finally has a chance to return to the last place he'd felt at peace--Colorado Springs, Colorado, to take a new job with the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, a top-secret military installation buried deep within the granite.

The moment Trex walks into the inn, Darby knows he's dangerous. There's no way she wants to get involved with another man who seems to be keeping way too many secrets. As charming and devastatingly gorgeous as Trex is, he clearly isn't telling her everything. But as wildfires rage on the mountain and Darby's ex-fiancé shows he isn't so willing to let her go, both she and Trex are soon to find out that what you don't know absolutely can hurt you.

Review

Before I started reading FHtY, I read through the 1 star reviews here on goodreads and was shocked by most of their poor ratings and why they rated it that way. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinions but my gosh they were ALL wrong!

Boring? Heck no!

Long? I could have read about Darby and Trex forever!

Overload on the religious stuff? Nope! And so what if it was? Why have a dig at someone for adding religion to a story?

I think the review that bugged me the most was someone getting their feathers ruffled because a character who was military was abusive to his partner. I'm sorry to say that it does happen, and has happened! People can work in the most respected field and still have a dark side. So to have a whinge about an author bringing light to that, I'm sorry but you're wearing rose coloured glasses.

Now I'm going to tell you why you SHOULD read this book.

Darby, escapes her abusive fiance, leaving him at the alter, on the run to freedom, to start a new life. Trex, ex military, ex FBI turned private government security, never wasted time on any woman who isn't "the one". Him falling for her. Her learning to trust again. To feel safe again. All the while facing past secrets that come back to haunt them both. Add in a psychotic ex who wants nothing more than to take back what is "his".

I have been reading a few books lately that seem to be just words thrown together to make a "story" and call themselves authors. There is no depth or back story, just a whole lot of surface bullshit and smut. Jamie has created, yet again an in depth, beautiful story about bravery, courage, love, trust and learning to accept no less than what you deserve.

Jamie skimps on no details and really paints the picture for every scene without leaving you question how those scenes came to be. She creates a realistic story that is so touching with characters that are relatable and so human that you can't help but feel everything they feel. They are characters you root for.

So if you are looking for a beautiful story that you can invest in. A story that captivates you. A story that shows the good and bad side of humanity, then read From Here to You. You won't regret it.

HAPPY READING

Review - The Learning Hours by Sara Ney

He’s not a douchebag;
but that doesn’t stop his friends from
turning him into one.

MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID. So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters: Are you the lucky lady who’s going to break our roommate’s cherry? Him: socially awkward man with average-sized penis looking for willing sexual partner. You: must have pulse. Text him at: 555-254-5551 The morons can’t even spell. And the texts I’ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I’m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one. THIS ISN’T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT. One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can’t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.   However, after seeing her in person, I know she’s not the girl for me. But my friends won’t let up—they just don't get it. Douchebags or not, there's one thing they'll never understand: GIRLS DON’T WANT ME. Especially her.

Review - Egomaniac by Vi Keeland

  egomaniac-available-now

   Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000038_00072]

The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.
Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.
Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation while his posh space was renovated. Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent. I was swindled out of ten grand.
The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place. I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind. I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.
The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages. The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing. And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.
