But Fred’s presence on the team isn’t exactly welcome — especially not to rich golden boy Ryan Berenger, whose best friend was kicked off the team to make a spot for Fred.

But there’s no denying that things are happening between the girl with the killer swing and the boy with the killer smile...

My Review:

Thank you to Harlequin Teen Australia for providing the book in exchange for an honest review.

Just like the name I was honestly HOOKED!

We meet Fred Oday, she doesn't have much money, her mother has a drinking problem, her father works so hard to support his family and she gets picked on because she's Native American. The only escape she has is golf, when she's playing nothing can bother her. Than she joins the "all boys" golf team. These boys are loaded (money) and they all have "I'm better than everyone" attitudes.
Fred doesn't let any of it get her down, she's there to play and hopefully get into a scholarship. She ends up getting partnered with Ryan Berenger, just another rich jerk, so she thought. Feelings start to grow between the two and the more they grew the more confused they became.

There wasn't much romance in this book and for me, that was ok. Sometimes in life things don't happen so easily and it shows just how hard some relationships can be. Fichera, really pulls out the emotional rollercoaster on this one. My heart went out to Fred for all the nasty things she went through, kids can be so cruel! At times, I was ready to jump in the book and teach a few people a lesson. I'm glad that she's a strong character, it helped dull that anger I felt lol. :)

I'm not much of a sports buff either but I really enjoyed the golf aspect, it was good to read about something the character felt so passionately about. I may just have to watch some golf with my husband lol.

If you're looking for something that'll have you glued to the pages and so immersed in the story than I recommend giving this book a go, it's a wonderful story about 2 teens from two different worlds, finding each other and overcoming all obstacles to be together.
