Miami Hush Club
(Episode 3)
By Michelle Warren
I always believed that girls like me didn’t find happily-ever-afters.
But despite my sordid past and personal demons,
the Miami Hush Club promised to make my every fantasy a reality.
With a membership,
they could gift me my dream job,
dream car, dream house,
and the perfect life for me and my little family.
They easily sucked me into the madness and twisted me inside out,
caging me until I didn’t know right from wrong.
The steep price of entry?
My darkest secret.
There’s only one problem.
Some secrets destroy.
Some crush.
Some fragment.
Some even endanger the ones I love,
and the one man I never imagined I would.
Because some secrets, when shared, give power.
And power is a dangerous thing.
Especially when the one pulling my strings, playing god,
has the terrifying means to destroy me.
And worst of all, after I’ve given my secret away,
I find the only thing that’s left is my wrecked and tortured soul.
But guess what?
Nothing’s safe.
The club can take that too.
Excerpt
I’ve let myself run wild since I arrived in Miami. I’ve been the disgraceful person that I only allow myself to be when my child is not around. Since Hayden’s been with me all day, he’s forced that part of me to hide away. But being with Vega somehow urges me to toe the line between good and bad, mom and secret lover. With him, there’s a balance that I’ve always craved.
“Let me convince you.” Vega’s voice is as low and enticing as it’s always been—deep, raspy, made even sexier by his accent.
I can’t seem to stop him when he pulls me to stand. Our bodies press against each other, touching, touching, touching everywhere, the way we shouldn’t. My breathing picks up, heart thundering in my chest at my conflicting feelings.
He positions one of my hands on his shoulder and the other clasps and twines with his, locking my fingers near his heart. Slowly we sway, starting to dance, where he takes me back to the very first time that we met in the nightclub, back when I didn’t know who he was. Now I want to know every part of him—inside and out.
He lowers his face near mine, and his dark scruff brushes over my cheek. The heat from his breath races over my bare shoulder, bathing me in the irresistible impulse to be close, to do what I want, and to take charge of my life in a way I haven’t in a long time.
“Relax,” he purrs in my ear. “It’s just a dance, chica.”
He’s said it before a few times, but our situation is so much more than that, and we both know it. It always has been. The attraction between us is thick, compressing us together in a way I can’t and don’t want to try to control anymore.
Our hips touch, rotating in an alluring and passionate dance that pulls me under his spell. Just when I feel his hardness behind the fabric of his linen pants press into my stomach, making me want to lift myself to connect it with the spot between my legs, his hand slides to my ass and he cups his fingers around the curve of it, lifting my leg to secure the back of my knee to his hip. The movement is swift and sure, a dance move, in reaction to the music or maybe my rapidly beating heart.
He slides a hand up my thigh beneath my sundress until it splays across my ass cheek, his fingers grazing over the crotch of my bathing suit. The smell of sunshine, salt, and sweat of the day lingers on our skin. I smell it on him, on me, our pheromones mixing in a potent concoction that reeks of lust.
When the song fades into another, he releases me, then steps away and kisses the ridge of my hand, right between the fingers. His tongue flicks there, the intense sensation shooting through my body and into my bikini bottoms.
I can’t help thinking it’s an unspoken message between us. My long fingers symbolize my legs and the gentle curve connecting them with my sex. And as I savor the feel of his tongue stroking that defined spot, I become wetter, remembering what it feels like with his head resting between my thighs.
“I want to show you something,” he says.
Anything, I want to say because I’m deep under his exotic spell.
