Whirl Blog Tour: Character Interview w/ Emma Raveling

Hey Book Lovers,

We are the next stop on the Whirl blog tour so here's author Emma Raveling with a fantastic character interview for us. Enjoy!

                                    ********

Hi, everyone! First of all, I’d like to thank Stacey and Renee for having me here today for this tour stop. I wanted to share a bit more about the world of Whirl, and decided to interview one of the main characters of the book, Julian LeVeq.
Emma: Hi, Julian. Thanks for joining us today.

Julian: *flirtatious, lazy smile* Of course.

Emma: *fidgeting under his startling indigo-colored eyes* Let’s start at the beginning. Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Julian: My name is Julian LeVeq. I’m a demillir, one of the four races that govern the water elemental world.

Emma: And what exactly is a demillir?

Julian: Demillirs are half-ondine and half-human males. A demillir cab be born this way, as I was. Or a demillir can be created. That happens when a fully human male mates with an ondine. The binding process infuses enough ondine magic into the male to transform him to a demillir.

Emma: Aren’t you also part of the Redavi? The ruling nobility?

Julian: *tight smile* I prefer not to be defined by the views of those conservative, narrow-minded fools.

Emma: So how would you define yourself?

Julian: *pulls up his right sleeve and shows off the tattoo of a kouperet blade just beneath his wrist* I’m a chevalier. First Lieutenant. And one of the best.

Emma: You say that with a great deal of confidence.

Julian: *shrugs* First rule when you’re inducted into the chevaliers. Don’t lose focus. It can cost you when you’re fighting an Aquidae demon. And I’m very good at my job.

Emma: So when you’re not battling Aquidae as a chevalier, what do you do? How do you spend your free time?

Julian: I love reading poetry, especially out in the moonlight. I enjoy socializing with friends at parties. *piercing look* I also enjoy the company of lovely ladies.

Emma: So you spend a lot of time chasing women?

Julian: *arches eyebrow* Jealous, sweetheart?

Emma: Hmmm. *stares thoughtfully at him* Actually, I was just thinking of writing you in the next book with like a second nose or something.

Julian: *eyes widen* You wouldn’t dare.

Emma: I’m the writer. I can do whatever I want.

Julian: *smiles slowly* You know, I have to admit that I like your spirit.

Emma: Isn’t that what you said to Kendra?

Julian: Let’s just say I enjoy being in the company of people who don’t always play by the rules.

Emma: Well, when I spoke to Kendra…

Julian: Talking about me, huh? *gives a suggestive look* Sharing fantasies?

Emma: *rolls eyes* The only fantasy Kendra shared was of clobbering you with something heavy and strangling you.

Julian: *winks* She’s crazy about me.

Emma: *exasperated* Oh, look. I think that’s all the time we have. Thank you for talking with us, Julian.

Julian: Anytime, darling.

Emma: *resists urge to whack him*
