GOODREADS

Blurb- “You’re a vampire” is so not what Ema Marx wants to hear when she wakes from a two-day coma in a cryptic yet exquisite castle in northern Finland. Unfortunately, it explains a lot. Like why she’s able to see in the dark and walk through solid objects. What she doesn’t understand is why the other vampires expect her to have all the answers. It’s their fault she turned into one of them…right?

Jalmari’s hatred for his old-man intensifies when he’s ordered to bring that troublesome girl to their castle. He has a clan to run, there’s no time for babysitting newborn vampires no matter how they were converted to their culture. But when a two-thousand-year-old premonition threatens to take the crown and his life, Jalmari sees no other choice than to take out the catalyst. Ema Marx. Fortunately for Ema, she could also be the clan’s only savior.

The race to figure out her vampiric origins is on. And maybe she’ll get the hang of the blood-drinking gig along the way…

5 Sassy Books!

Review by the lovely Michelle Mesics!

What a great story!! I really enjoyed this novel!! I am a late-comer to the supernatural/vampire books ( Nay got cranky at me for how long it took to read the Twilight books lol) , but so far I have not been disappointed in what I have read. Every novel has its own twists and differences that draws you in and keeps you interested, and this book has a great one!!

This book starts with an exciting but scary chase scene and pretty much keeps you hooked from there! The main character Ema is being chased down an alley by a vampire (although she doesn’t realise this at the time). She narrowly escapes thanks to a nosey neighbour and she reports the attack to the police. They advise to her to stay with friends for a few days so she goes to stay with her mum. Here we learn that their relationship isn’t very good; they argue straight away and Ema heads back to her apartment. She almost makes it home when she is attacked again, this time by Jalmari, Prince and Head of the Neo-Draugarian Clan of vampires, and his lover Leena. Instead of killing her they take her back to Jalmari’s castle in Finland. When she wakes, two days later, she meets Jesu, Jalmari’s brother and also a prince. She also discovers that she is now a vampire.

Jesu has a two-thousand-year-old premonition about Ema, and although this book doesn’t touch too much on the full story about it, Ema is important to the survival of their clan. This is one of the reasons Jalmari saves her in the alley. I really enjoyed the author’s take on the history of vampires, and learning the difference between “vampires” and “vampyres”. It was very interesting reading.
My favourite Character was Jesu. His obvious concern and love for Ema from the start is just beautiful, he is such a good friend to her while she adapts to her new life as a vampire, as well as helping her learn about her true family history. There are quite a few funny moments as Ema learns how to use her new powers. Although at first Jalmari and Leena come across as the enemy, ( Jalmari has some pretty serious daddy issues—literally!!) , during the book you will change  your feelings towards them. I can’t say too much without giving too much of the storyline away!

This story will have you laughing , and in places it will freak you out, and yes I think you might even have a few tears! There is more to come with this story and I am very keen to read it !! I give this book 5/5 !!

Thanks again Stacey and Renee for asking me to review this book.
