Book Review- Afterlife an Evernight novel by Claudia Gray
Title: Afterlife Author: Claudia Gray Release: 8th of March 2011 Genre: YA Paranormal Rating: 9/10 Blurb: "Bianca and Lucas face a terrifying new reality: they have become whay they most feared. Lucas is a Vampire, and Bianca is a wraith. Together, they've overcome every obstacle life has thrown at them and fought pitched battles against enemies- mortal and otherwise. Now they must face their biggest challenge so far. They must discover if their love is strong enough to survive what comes after life..." Review: Without a doubt the best book of the Evernight series. In Afterlife we start off right where we left Lucas and Bianca in Hourglass. There was no going back and delving into the previous book, we are thrown straight into the action to continue the story. That was one of the best parts of the book. I get so frustrated when I read book series that always do a re-run of the previous book. We want to know what happens next already! Claudia Gray has really pushed her characters to their limits in Afterlife. Bianca has always been taught that wraiths are evil and to be feared, and now faces the rest of eternity as one. Learning that what she has known her whole life isn't exactly what it was made out to be and learning her purpose in this new found life is one of the journeys she takes through this book. There is an evil scheme behind her enrollement at Evernight Academy thats comes to the surface to shock everyone (including me). Lucas who also has grown up with the influences of others. Given perceptions about Vampires from "Black Cross" that also weren't entirely true. Their relationship is thrown every hard ball you can think of. Do they make it? That's for you to find out. Vic, Petrice, Balthazar, Dana and Raquel also have their strengths and weaknesses tested. All everyone had ever believed is not as it seems. The mixture of supernatural beings are amazing. It's not the usual vampire book where their natural enemy is the werewolf and sunlight is deadly. It's one that keeps you thinking the entire time. I found myself thinking about the possible outcomes even when I put the book down. It's a book that you dream about when you read it before bed. A story that doesn't leave your thoughts until you get to the ending and find out what happens and even then you think about the possibilites of an in between realm. What really happens in the after life? Do our loved ones that pass really have a hand in the outcome of our lives? This edge of your seat read is in one word AMAZING! Anyone who hasn't read it needs to go out and get the series, you will be blown away by this powerful story. It is sad of me to announce that this is the last book in the Evernight series. However, Claudia has decided to tell the story of Balthazar! And we all love him right. She will be taking us on his journey from his death to all of the adventures that follow. Keep your eyes peeled in March of 2012 for this one. For more information about Claudia Gray and her books head to her website: www.claudiagray.com Happy Reading! Renee
