Four months after being fired from the FBI and retreating to her hometown of Fairhope, Alabama, former special agent Samantha Dark is still learning to enjoy the peaceful anonymity of small-town life. Her confidence shaken, Samantha avoids contact with others. After all, when monsters live in plain sight, it’s hard to trust anyone. But when her former partner, Agent Blake Gamble, the ultimate good guy and someone who’s always believed in her, comes to town seeking her help with his latest case, Samantha is torn. Her fabled instincts let her down once before, when the killer who ruined her career got away under her watch, and there are no guarantees they won’t again.

But Blake doesn’t believe in ever giving up…especially when it comes to Samantha. While they could never pursue their mutual attraction before, when they were partners, now there’s nothing standing in their way…except the specter of known serial killer Cameron Latham. Cameron always claimed he and Samantha both had a darkness within that connected them…until Blake came into her life. Samantha knows that darkness is real—that it’s what allows her to penetrate the minds of sadistic killers. The last thing Samantha could bear, however, is to reveal her dark side to Blake and have him recoil from her. Blake wants to prove to Samantha that he can handle all her secrets—she just needs to trust him. But Samantha learned to be careful about whom to trust. Those close to you can turn on you in an instant…

Blake’s current case turns out to be the work of a copycat killer—a psycho pupil of Cameron’s who is seeking vengeance for his former master by planning to kill Samantha. But it serves as a catalyst for something more venomous—a reason for Cameron himself to reemerge, deadlier than ever. The last person Cameron wants harmed is Samantha. He’s more interested in eliminating perceived rival Blake for good.

Two deadly killers are after them, but Blake and Samantha know every monster has a weakness. It’s just a matter of finding who it is before it’s too late…

I’m a love of all things books, a hopeless romantic, and have always had a passion for writing. Between being a sappy romantic, my love of an HEA, my crazy imagination, and ok, let’s be real, my dirty mind, I fell easily into writing romance.

I’m a huge baseball fan and yet, a complete girly, girl. I’m an obsessive reader and have a slight (hahaha! Slight? Yeah, right) addiction to signed books.

I’m married to my very own book boyfriend, an alpha male with a sexy, sweet side. He is the best inspiration, my biggest supporter, and the love of my life. He is also incredibly patient and understanding about the fact that he has to fight the voices in my head for attention.

I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them!

He rolled over on the bed and ran his hand through his hair. He’d been having these dreams more frequently the more often he saw Ellie. It wasn’t dream mating. At least not the same as it had been for Jake and Darien. Maybe that was because everyone was so different. The experience had been so incredibly real, not dreamlike at all. Brett felt like he’d really had sex with her. Which meant she was his, in the way a wolf claims his   mate.

He’d never had such strong dreams before where he couldn’t separate fantasy from reality.

He groaned and stared at his phone sitting on the bedside table. Then he grabbed it and called Ellie. “Are you still awake?”

She answered on the first ring. “If I weren’t, could you tell?”

He smiled, got out of bed, and began changing the sheets. “I couldn’t sleep.”

“No wild and sexy dreams?”

Her voice was drowsy and sexy, and he envisioned her in bed wearing the moose T-shirt she’d had on before she tossed it and was completely naked.

“Yeah, actually, I was having this really hot dream about this incredibly hot and sexy she-wolf.”

He was afraid he’d shocked her. “Are you still there?” “With me?” she asked, sounding startled.

Who else would he be dreaming of? He laughed though. “Yeah. I didn’t embarrass you, did I?” He finished changing the sheets on his bed, then climbed back into it.

“Hmm, what if I said I was dreaming about you?” He paused. “Really.”

“Yeah, but you know everyone fantasizes about people they’re dating, right?”

“Yeah, sure.” He pulled the covers over his waist. “So what was I wearing?”

“No shirt, no boxer briefs, just your jeans. What was I wearing?”

“A brown T-shirt with a moose on the front of it.” “No.

“Yeah. It’s weird what you’ll envision in a dream, right? So what were you really wearing?” Brett asked.

“That’s what I was really wearing.”

Both were silent for a few seconds, then Brett said, “Okay, so tell me exactly what happened in your dream.” After she gave him an abbreviated version, he whis- tled. “I know you can see ghosts, but are you…psychic?”

“Hell, Ellie. You know what this means?”

“We are not dream mated.”

“Okay, so if you went out with someone else, you’d see that you wouldn’t dream about him in the same way we dream about each other—and you’ll know we’re meant to be together.” He couldn’t imagine a better way to prove it, not that he really meant for her to do so, nor would he suggest it in a million years. But he assumed that’s what would happen.

“Are you serious? What if I start dating a wolf, and he thinks I’m really interested in him? What if I am? Okay, fine. I’ll ask Sarandon on a date.”

“No, wait. I didn’t mean for you to do that. It was just a hypothetical comment.” No way did he want Ellie asking Sarandon out. What if his brother was interested in her? Besides, the news would spread through the pack like wildfire.

“No, I think it’s a good idea. A great social experi- ment. If we’re meant to be together, then we will be. Listen, it’s really late and I’ve got to get up early tomor- row. I’ll talk to you later. Night, Brett.” Ellie hung up on him.

“Wait!” Ah hell, he’d just been talking off the top of his head. If they were dream mated, it was a done deal and they needed to make the fantasy come true. He was certainly ready. He called her back, but she didn’t answer. Brett let out his breath in a growl. He didn’t want her to date anyone else. What if she was angry with him over suggesting that and she called it off   between them completely?

Then he smiled. She couldn’t. Not if they were dream mated. She would want him back no matter what. Then again, what if they weren’t? No way. Though there were a couple of minor discrepancies in what she had seen and what he had witnessed during their heated dreams, any two people experiencing the same dream would surely each see things a little differently. He had to try to convince her once and for all that they were meant for each other.

A Spotlight on Wild Ride by Julie Ann Walker PLUS Giveaway!

The hero we've all been waiting for…

Ethan "Ozzie" Sykes
Former Navy SEAL
Underground operator for Black Knights Inc., the covert government defense firm disguised as a custom motorcycle shop

In a black-on-black international mission that went seriously sideways, Ozzie was badly injured—now he's stuck at BKI headquarters in Chicago, champing at the bit to get out into the field again. To his disgust, he's tasked with distracting Chicago Tribune ace reporter Samantha Tate, who's been trying to dig up the dirt on BKI for years. Turns out Samantha's beauty, intelligence and sense of humor are a seriously big distraction, and Ozzie's losing his desire to keep her at bay.

Ozzie's tired of hiding, and Samantha may be the best—and worst—person to share his secrets with...

How was it possible she could not only like, but lust after a complete sociopath? A lying, gunrunning piece of shit?
That’s taking a penchant for bad boys to a whole new level, don’t you think?
Problem was, the Ozzie she’d gotten to know didn’t seem like a bad boy. In fact, she’d come to believe that everything she suspected about BKI was dead wrong. After years of dodging her, a few months ago the Black Knights had finally invited her on a tour of their shop. Ozzie had been her guide, and he had managed to convince her that the brusque men of BKI weren’t hiding anything nefarious, and that the big compound with its various outbuildings and huge factory warehouse was exactly what it was purported to be, a top-of-the-line custom bike-building shop that catered to an elite crowd of motorcycle enthusiasts who didn’t just want a form of transportation, but a piece of rolling art. He’d won her over with his smile, his razor-sharp mind, and his geeky penchant for all things Star Trek and eighties.
Her mind flashed back to a day six weeks earlier. Winter had finally released its icy grip on the city, and the first true promise of spring had hung in the air. Ozzie had phoned her at work, telling her it was the perfect day for a motorcycle ride and begging her to come for one. As soon as she’d typed up the last of her assignments, she had run out the front door of the Tribune Tower to find him idling by the curb on his big purple-and-green custom Harley.
The bike was a wonder of chrome and steel and whimsical paint.
The man was a wonder of muscle and strength and funny quips.
They had ridden along Lake Shore Drive for hours, watching the sun turn the waves on Lake Michigan to burnished gold. And she had fallen for him then. Just a little. Fallen for how easy he was to talk to. Fallen for how fun he was to be around. Fallen for the simple…joy he brought to her heart.
But it’s all a lie!
A big, fat, stinking lie. And she didn’t know whether to scream with disappointment or scratch his gorgeous, criminal eyes right out of his gorgeous, criminal head. Keeping up pretenses, acting like nothing had happened today, like she didn’t know the truth, was taking everything she had.
Beneath the bar, her knees shook. The gin, which usually gave her a warm, rosy glow, soured in her stomach. And emblazoned on the backs of her eyelids every time she blinked was the look of frightened sincerity in Marcel’s eyes when he told her who the Black Apostles, Chicago’s most notorious South Side gang, were buying their guns from.
Play it cool, Sammie.
Yeah, right. Easier said than done when she was sitting beside two arms dealers. But if she had any hope of blowing the lid off Black Knights Inc., of getting the evidence she needed for Legal to sign off on the investigative story she would write, she had to maintain the status quo. And lest she make Ozzie suspicious, she had to keep on keeping on as if she didn’t know what he was.
“Well, hello, Ozzie,” a pert blond in slacks and a formfitting maroon blouse slurred, sidling up to Ozzie like a cheerleader to a quarterback. Somehow she managed to squeeze herself between Samantha and the lying asshole. That’s how Samantha was going to refer to him from here on out. Not Ozzie, but Lying Asshole. Lying Criminal Asshole. “My friend over there told me I should come and introduce myself to you.”
“Oh, uh…” Ozzie said haltingly, glancing into the mirror at the women by the pool table. “Hi. Which friend is—”
“The redhead. Gloria. She was a brunette when the two of you hooked up.” The blond tried to bat her lashes, but the booze in her blood made the move look less sexy and more like she had glue stuck in one eye. “My name is Janie, by the way. And Gloria told me to tell you I have a really small…” She glanced around and leaned in close to whisper something in Ozzie’s ear.
Even though he was a lying criminal asshole, Samantha felt jealousy bubble in her guts, all green and gross and altogether obnoxious.
But it’s not for this Ozzie, she assured herself. It’s for the Ozzie I thought he was.
Fake Ozzie was wonderful. Fake Ozzie had walked around Lincoln Park Zoo with his face painted like a lion because they had passed the kiddie station and she had dared him to have it done. Fake Ozzie had hired a singing stripper telegram to stop by her apartment the morning of her birthday. When the “UPS driver” began to take off his shirt while doing his best Paul McCartney impression and serenading her with the Beatles’ “Birthday” song, she had never laughed so hard in her whole life.
Fake Ozzie had brought her chicken soup, the entire DVD collection of Orange Is the New Black, and two bottles of NyQuil when she came down with a wretched cold. He had knocked on her door and left all the stuff outside with a card that had the Starship Enterprise printed on the front. Inside had been an inscription in his decisive hand that read: Get well soon so you can…live long and prosper.
Yes, Fake Ozzie was a gorgeous, geeky, wonderful man. Too bad Fake Ozzie was a big ol’ phony.
The laugh he managed when the blond trailed a bloodred fingernail over his jaw before turning to stumble back to her friends was forced and hoarse-sounding. If Samantha wasn’t mistaken, there was a slight flush on his cheeks when he pinned his eyes to his pint glass, refusing to meet her stare in the mirror.
“Sweet fuck all.” Christian’s face was the epitome of incredulity. “Do you have some sort of magical pecker?”
“I—” Ozzie began, but was cut off by a discordant jangle coming from Samantha’s purse.
Saved by the bell. She was a wreck, completely devastated, and the last thing she wanted to talk about, to think about, was Ozzie’s penis. His lying, criminal—likely big and lovely—penis.
