Cover Reveal- Trapped by Ella James

I love participating in cover reveals because they are so exciting!
And this one is no exception.

Trapped follows the highly regarded Here- book 1 in the Here Trilogy and with an average rating of 4.5 stars on Amazon I can see why everyone is eagerly awaiting the release of Trapped.

Due to be released December 2012
Here is a little bit of what you can expect in Trapped.

(CONTAINS SPOILERS - DO NOT READ BEFORE READING HERE):
When Milo Mitchell falls for the beautiful, tuxedo-clad guy she found wandering her family's rural Colorado property, she never dreamed he was a scout from another galaxy, or that their relationship would leave him with an impossible choice: eradicating humankind, or initiating the end of his own people.

Nick's job is finding the elements his people need to power their elaborate interweb of minds. Being a scout means he is capable of traveling to other planets on his own. It also means that, unlike The Rest, he has access to primitive feelings and individual desires. For eons, he was part of the whole, but when he encountered Milo, his obsession with her changed everything.

Nick's partner, Vera, is capable of independent thought, but not compelled by it. She is satisfied with her existence as one of The Rest, and she won't agree that humans are worth sparing; not when their planet has a precious cache of the gold her people need so badly.

While Vera tries to force Nick into endorsing an Earth invasion, working behind the scenes to tie his hands, and the Department of Defense lays a trap for them with Milo's mom as bait, Nick and Milo are waging their own war - against a primal desire that can only lead to one thing: heartbreak.

Sounds intriguing right?

So I guess you want to see the cover now?

4 Sassy Books!
Review- Action packed from start to finish, Paths of Thorn and Flame will have you on the edge of your seat as Nathan Wrann continues the story of Cor Griffin- teenage vampire trying to find his place in the world. Following the craziness that happened in From out of Chaos (if you missed my review for that click HERE) we are taken a whirlwind of events that have Cor and his friends take on dangerous missions which risk their lives and others around them. With no clues on where "The Creeper" has gone the group of friends face another enemy which leaves Cor trying to figure out who he can really trust.

Thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable Paths of Thorn and Flame is a great read for guys and gals who want an action packed escape from reality. I would highly recommend it to readers between the ages of 13 and 25.

My name is Deena Remiel, and I am an author of paranormal romance and urban fantasy. It seems the longer I write, the darker my stories get! But I just can’t get enough of Good vs Evil! I also teach language arts to middle schoolers. Curiously, I find myself being called upon to write all sorts of correspondence for my family and friends, but they are everything to me, and frequently serve as fodder for elements of my novels, poems, and posts. They take it all in stride, though, and with good humor. So, it’s really a perfect give and take relationship!

An Excerpt from Devil Du Jour

A nurse walked in with a basin, a rag, and a smile. She stood beside her after the doctors left and began cleaning away the dried blood and washed out the wounds. Camille closed her eyes during the procedure, imagining Nurse Chloe as her mom instead.
“All cleaned up and dressed. I’ll send your friend in now, but when the plastic surgeon comes down, he’ll have to wait outside.”
“Thanks.” She managed to offer a weak smile.
A moment alone seemed too much for her. Her heart rate exploded and she shook with irrational fear. She never wanted to be alone again. Derek appeared by the curtain with a scowl that quickly dissolved into a relieved grin. He rushed to her side and scooped her up in his arms, replacing the gurney with himself as her bed.
“Hey, sweetheart, how are you doing? My God, you’re shaking like a leaf. It’s okay. I’m here.” He feathered light kisses on her temple and smoothed away her damp, matted hair.
“I’m all wet still,” she admonished. “You’re gonna get soaked.”
“I don’t care. You’re alive. That’s all that matters.”
“Thanks to you.” She paused and continued in a hushed voice. “You tore me away from ‘You Know Who’s’ grasp. I was nearly gone. He had me. I’ll never forget what you’ve done for me. Ahh!” She grasped at her ears and her body went rigid.
“What? What is it?” He jumped up with her in his arms and put her back on the gurney.
“I can’t bear that screeching sound and my cuts are burning me again! Oh God!” She writhed on the stretcher while he looked on, wide-eyed, not knowing what to do for her.
“Oh, dear Lord,” she sighed and closed her eyes. “It’s stopped.”
“What the hell was that all about?”
“I don’t know,” she croaked. “It happened while I was in the ambulance, too.” Before they could discuss things any further, a doctor wearing scrubs, a surgical cap, and mask pushed the curtain aside and gave him the signal to leave. She closed the curtain behind her.
“Hello, Ms. Dutton. My name is Dr. Landry and I’ll be attending to your wounds.”
Something about her voice sent prickles of apprehension across her skin. “Okay.”
The doctor offered her a hospital gown. “Here. It’ll be easier for me if you put this gown on instead of what you have on now. Those gowns are not exam-friendly. Especially for what I have to do. Keep the opening in the front and let me know when you’re ready.” She stepped out, leaving her to analyze why nerves were twitching in her arms and legs.
She took off the other hospital wear, dropped it to the floor, and put the gown on as requested. “I’m ready.”
Dr. Landry stepped back in the curtained area and began her assessment. She opened the gown to reveal Camille’s stomach and whispered. “Ah, my handiwork is holding up well, I see. You’re my finest work yet.”

Escape Publishing

Kate with the Launch Authors.

Hello Renee, Stacey, and Sassy Book Lovers all! Thanks so much for inviting me to the blog to talk about Escape Publishing, and some books I really hope you'll love.

My name is Kate, and I'm the Managing Editor of Harlequin Australia's new digital-first imprint, Escape Publishing. We launched with five titles last week. Want to know what they are? Well, let me tell you!

Chains of Revenge – Keziah Hill: an erotic fantasy novella about a slave in sexual bondage who rises to become a Warlord – and take his revenge on the woman who broke his heart.

Chaos Born – Rebekah Turner: an urban fantasy debut about a mercenary with a secret so dark even she doesn't know about it – but secrets are meant to be revealed. This novel introduces the gaslit world of the Applecross, its many layers, characters, and the militant religious order that seeks to control it all.

Christmas Wishes – Rhian Cahill: a steamy and sweet holiday story about best friends realising that all they really want for Christmas is each other!
Grease Monkey Jive – Ainslie Paton: a lovely, meaty, get-your-teeth-in, contemporary romance about a ballroom dance teacher, a mechanic, a dance competition, $50 000, friendships, family, and the power of a little sizzle.

In Safe Hands – Lee Christine: a Sydney-set, sophisticated romantic suspense novel about a highly successful lawyer threatened by a youthful indiscretion and the ex-SAS Commander that she recruits to help her.

The best part is, you don't have to just take my word for it. All our books are currently at a special launch price of $0.99 apiece, except for Chains of Revenge which is available free for a very limited time. So if you want to check us out, now is a great time to do so!

We're also releasing six titles in December, and more in January, all DRM and geographic-restriction free, competitively priced, and professionally edited. And thanks to our digital-first publishing model, we've got the freedom to offer more: more diversity, more options, more choices, more romance. One of the benefits to being digital-first is smaller overhead costs, which means we can take more risks, cater to niches, and diverge onto all kinds of roads less taken.

So you can expect genres that don't often get a look in. For example, we have a couple of science fiction romances in the pipeline. We also have a Scottish medieval, a YA space opera, and a whole pile of Australian-set contemporary romance that demonstrates the breadth and depth of living – and loving – in Australia.

You can find out more about everything Escape on our website,
www.escapepublishing.com.au. We're also across various social media, including facebook, twitter, and youtube. So do get in contact, let us know what you think, let us know what you want to read, and what we can do for you.
Thanks so much for having me on Sassy Book Lovers to chat about Escape Publishing, and I look forward to hearing from all of you!

                      **********

Thank you Kate, it's been a pleasure having you on our blog today!

Sounds great, right? Well, what are you waiting for?! Pop on over to their site and check it out for yourself.. www.escapepublishing.com.au. A place where you may find your new escape! ;-)

Title- From out of Chaos
Author- Nathan Wrann
Genre- YA/ Paranormal

Publisher- Dalton Gang Press
Review ecopy provided by author.

Blurb- The Cor Griffin Bloodsuckers' story continues in the thrilling sequel to Dark Matter Heart.

The teens’ lives are thrust deeper into turmoil as Detectives Tolliver and Orlovsky keep Cor under surveillance; Caitlyn copes with her transformation, and Taylor sets off a cataclysmic chain of events that will tragically change their lives forever.

"From Out Of Chaos" is Book 2 in the "Dark Matter Heart" Trilogy.

 4 Sassy Books!

Review- Nathan wasted no time jumping straight into the story from where we left off in Dark Matter Heart (If you missed my review for that check it out HERE).

Now where do I start?

Ok so firstly a note to anyone who has this on their TBR pile, if you're a sook (like I am), don't read it at night. I had NIGHTMARES!!!  It seriously creeped me out! What might have done that you ask? Well I can't give anything away but I will say one thing... Frankenstein... I don't think I have ever had nightmares from a book before. So kudos to Nathan for making me poop my pants (not literally).

So onto the story and what a story it is. Fast-paced, intense, creepy, exciting and full of non-stop action! Nathan Wrann entertains page after page with this energetic vampire story that has many twists and turns  along the way. Add in a little pinch on romance and you are on one heck of a ride.

I have been so swept up with this story that I immediately picked up the 3rd book in the series once I was finished. So keep an eye out for my review of Paths of Thorn and Flame which will be posted in the next few days.

Suddenly their future together is in jeopardy as Stefan struggles to deal with a relationship where he is no longer the Master, and he no longer has control. Everything is at risk... and no one is safe.

 5 Sassy Books!

Review- What an intense, dramatic way to end the HMK series. I was privileged to get a sneak peak when Vivien was only half way into the story and let me tell you I was devastated when I got to the end of my sneak peak. Vivien has this extraordinary ability to lure her readers in and make them addicted to her stories. Her writing, imagination and characters makes you fall in love with every word she writes.

HMK3 is no different. This heart racing conclusion to Renee and Stefan's story will have it's readers tasting the bitter sweetness that comes with any ending to an amazing love story. HMK3 is packed full of drama, love, romance and devastation when two people from their pasts come back and threaten to destroy everything that Renee and Stefan have come to love. With the roller-coaster ride of emotions and drama, add in a surprise ending (Good or Bad I'm not saying), HMK3 will absorb your mind until the very last page.

If you haven't already jumped onto the Vivien Sparx bandwagon you are missing out!

To purchase Her Master's Kiss 3 and any of her other amazing titles head on over to Vivien's
There it will show you all of Vivien's work and you will be able to check out other readers reviews also.

5 Sassy Books

My Review: Wow, just wow! Melissa Mayhue is one of my favourite authors, I absolutely am in love with her 'Daughters of the Glenn series'. These new 'Warrior' books are icing on the cake!

We meet Christiana Macdowylt, she has a gift of being able to see what's to come. Her visions have shown her that one man (Warrior) will save her from her wicked half-brother Torquil, who is keeping Christiana prisoner. He also has an interest in her visions, for his own greed.

Chase Noble wants to feel like he belongs. He was promised by his father that he'll meet his destiny soon and being half fae, he wasn't too surprised when he was whisked back in time to Medieval Scotland. He than meets Halldor who does everything he can to help Chase accomplish what he was meant to do.

Enthralling characters, with a splash of Fairy magic and a dash of heart pounding romance you have one amazing book you can't put down. With each turn of the page Melissa's story flows, igniting your imagination, making you feel like you're seeing everything unfold before your eyes. You live this story!

I look forward to reading more of Melissa Mayhue's work, she truly know's how to captivate her readers! :-)

I was given a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

Review- CurbChek Reload by Zach Fortier

Title- CurbChek- Reload
Author- Zach Fortier
Genre- Non Fiction/ Crime
Publication Date- 26th of March 2012
Publisher- CreateSpace
Review copy provided by Author

Blurb- Curbchek-Reload is a darker account of the streets as they were worked by Zach Fortier, a dangerously deranged cop. Welcome back to the inner city and the twisted mentality of Zach Fortier. Patrolling the streets, broken and mentally damaged from years of urban violence, Zach fights a losing battle to maintain a hold on reality. Join him in the passenger seat of a police cruiser for more of the darker and meaner side of life: The inner city. In Curbchek-Reload you get a front row seat to an attempted murder of a cop, suicide attempts, rapes, and DARK cop humor. Curbchek-Reload - Fasten your bullet proof vest and buckle your seat-belt, it is gonna be a wild ride!

Review- What an introduction to the life of an American Cop! CurbChek- Reload is a book full of  events that Zach Fortier has experienced during his time as a Police Officer. It was like reading episodes of Law and Order and let me tell you, he didn't hold back on the details at all! The gruesome true stories were a shock to the system as he recalled every single detail of the horrific events he encountered ranging from drug related crimes to rape crimes and everything in between.

Zach Fortier is a copper who seems to like going solo. Going on calls alone unless its absolutely necessary for back-up. He is also the type that will do the morally right thing as oppose to what the system thinks is right. In other words he's not a dick who flaunts his badge. He's the type of cop that you can respect.

Throughout the book I found myself having all kinds of reactions and feelings with every story he told. I was shocked, disgusted, appalled, and sad. Add in the fact that these are all true stories, makes it all the more worse. It's definitely cementing the fact that humans are one effed up race.

One thing that stuck out most was how Zach handles each and every call-out he gets. He's professional yet takes things personally. He has a tough skin on the outside but still has feelings. I don't know how he does what he does. I sure couldn't do it! So thank-you Zach for opening my eyes to what really happens out there in the real world.

Crime novels aren't usually my pick of genre but I am so glad I read CurbChek- Reload. It was a real eye opener that I could not put down. I would recommend to anyone who can handle raw and honest stories. Really not a book for the softies.

CurbChek- Reload is available to purchase in Paperback and Kindle on AMAZON and is also available at THE BOOK DEPOSITORY.
